GT500 pedals
I just put in the GT500 pedal covers, plus matching dead pedal.
Took about a 1/2 hour, including time to soften the new pedal covers for install.
I think they look great.

It looks super nice but that post was from 2006 and he said they were trying to find a no drill solution. I've emailed the poster and will let you know if and what he says.

Hello all,
I recieved some email today about the dead pedal I had made up a little over a year ago. (see above link to post). I never really took it anywhere mainly because of mounting concerns. (I was not willing to drill holes in my car to mount it, and doubt anyone else would either).
As far as the look of it. Most people were divided between "It is too big!", and "thats great, it protects the carpet!"
Either way, there seems to be a bit of intrest in it so I think I am going to pull out the prototype this week and take another look at a reasonable mounting scheme possibly similar to the CDC unit. (hopefully without stepping on anyones toes since that really is not my goal here)
In any event, if anyone has input about the size of the unit or appearance, feel free to shoot me an email. One thought would be to nix the bending over the sides of the dead pedal and just leave it flat.
The reason I made it go over the sides on the original unit was to keep salt and slush from boots from just soiling the carpeted right side of the pedal. But that was just my first take on it.
Regards,
Nick

I think keeping the piece flat would cut down the bulkiness of it and lower manufacturing costs. Now I think it would be cool if it had a raised section similar to the gas pedal and only 3 bars like the rest of the pedals. Thoughts?

I think it's the right size to do what a dead pedal should. I like the three bars motif; if you only did one set of three bars, it would look funny since there would be a lot of bare metal. As for the "look", IMHO keep it the same.
As for the shape, I think you could lose the part that wraps over the right side - it would help to make the pedal not LOOK so large. However, keep the part that wraps over the bottom, near where your heel would rest.
Just my $0.02.

+1 on the raised section, it would match a whole lot better.

I will look into the raised section but due to low volumes right now a stamping (what the gas pedal is) would not be possible. And CNC machining it from a chunk of 6061 or 304 stainless would also be pretty pricy as well.
I might look into making those raised sections as separate parts for those who want them. They would be machined out of barstock and screwed on from the back to create the assembly.
Regarding the width of the rubber inserts. Would anyone want them wider? They will be slightly taller on the next unit if it gets built to cover the edge of the stainless around the openings and lip over slightly to match the clutch pedal.
