Dustin you said you made some improvements over the original install posted. What did you do differently?

2) I used crimped connections instead of stripping wires and soldering them with tape. Either method works fine, but using the crimped connections is cleaner I think

i agree if u gotta insert the key AND turn it then the button is poointless. however it does look good and you did a great job installing it. can you still start the car by turning the key as well? also is there any way to set it up so that you dont need the key in the ignition? lastly can u shut the car off by depressing the button again or do you have to turn the key?

Dustin, what gauge wire did you run to the power, ground, and ignition?

I think my next endeavor will be a trunk release button, I already know how to do it. I just need to select a button and figure out a good location for it. Actually that sounds like a great idea, now I have something to do tomorrow! You guys want a writeup on that one too?

Also, everyone thinks it's factory, just like more cars are coming with, like Honda's S2000, Lexus's GS440, Aston Martin's... the list goes on.

Yeah I don't think the Ford GT button would fit as nicely into the power socket as the one you guys installed. Just wanted to post pics of the "big brother" in the family using the same idea. Cool to see.

Can't it be wired so that all you have to do is put the key in the ignition and push the button to start without having to turn the key at all?

Yeah, maybe he means good-bye cigarette lighter? This won't damage the starter at all. It's only another place to make the electrical connection instead of under the steering column. It's no different than turning the key and won't damage the starter unless it's abused.

Good, that makes me feel better considering I just orderd my button last night. I didn't think this would hurt anything but that post worried me a bit.
