Exclamation freaking out

ok i was driving out of an automatic carwash and letting the blowers dry my car and everything was ok, i press the gas a bit then all of a sudden the volume on my stereo goes down, so of course i crank it up a bit but i took it all the way up just to hear normal volume and i noticed i had no bass and i could hardly hear anything. i started freaking out then took off turning the stereo on and off then i turned the car off then on again and still nothing. well after a while i got on the expressway and i turned the stereo on and all of a sudden BAM! bass kicked in the Shaker kicked on and the music was loud so i turned it down. anyone have this problem before or know what could have happened to my baby.

it is the stock Shaker 1000 system and i have a 2006 GT with IUP

Could have had a short somewhere due to the carwash, some high pressure water jet got in something somewhere and caused a short...thats what it sounds like anyway. Once you got on the highway it dried out and came back to normal. Where the short is could be anybody's guess though.

I'm not sure how the water would have gotten to anything related to the radio, unless there is something under the hood that might be related...maybe the speed/volume control module is under the hood somewhere and got wet with the high pressure spray. Just throwing things out there, but the carwash and the radio problem do sound related somehow!!

Why not just take it in to your Ford dealer? Make him earn his money checking it out. If something is shorting out (water or not) it should be fixed, or the unit replaced.

I would avoid the dealer unless absolutely neccessary. They'll screw up more than what they'll fix. It does sound as though is was a short. If that was the only time, then I would not worry about it... It may never happen again.

I had this happen once a while back, went to the movies came back and only the bass was working (Shaker 1000) no audio. Only the bass was coming through. Turned it on/off couple times then kept off. Couple miles down the road turned it on and it was working fine. Speedvolume off. Been fine every since..
