[QUOTE=Planeswalker;6372154]I have won 6 of 6 audio contests at car shows with my Shaker 1000. It has some upgraded speakers and well placed Dynomat though. About $250 in upgrades. And I wasn't against stock systems; one was against a $5000 kicker sponsored car, another against a truck with MTXs. Nothing special, it was car shows, not audio shows.

Don't get me wrong here, the shaker is amazing for a stock system. But there is no way it holds up to a decent aftermarket system. I was running it with an aftermarket head unit and speakers for a while and it sounded pretty good. But those cheap stock amps were starving the speakers of power and causing distortion. The subs are actually pretty hefty for stock ones. I pulled them out when I replaced mine and they were built really solid. But a decent aftermarket amp/sub combo was a night and day difference for me.

I dont doubt it sounds good. And Dynomat does make a world of difference, but I just cant see a fairly stock system holding up to somthing like a $5000 sponsored car....Guess I'd have to hear it lol

I play hard rock music, which works out really well with the upgrades I have. Before I could turn the volume all the way up and listen, now it's actually painful at full volume.
And it's beyond easy to beat a $5000 system at car shows since they always put in a rap song with all bass! People that drive pre 70s cars don't want to hear that junk.

Gotcha, same here. Yea thats very true, all rap does is accentuate the bass lol. Glad the upgrades are working out so well.
