Factroy Shaker Touch Screen Help Please
I have read several post's and I am confused about what to do here. I want to remove the boring factory Shaker 500 and install a touch screen. I have read that there are several issues in doing this. I have a 2007 Mustang GT Vert. I have heard that you will not have options like the speed being correctly displayed in the GPS, the factory door subs not working all the way to needing special wiring harnesses and maybe even programming. I just want what will fit, look good, sound the same or better with the factory system and work right. Please, if anyone can help I want to know the following information.
1. Does Ford offer a Direct Touch Screen Replacement like what they use in the newer Mustangs that have GPS, Bluetooth, DVD, Satellite Radio, Regular Radio, CD, iPod and pretty much a Space Shuttle launch system lol. If so does anyone have the part number and price range?
2. Is there a better option out there other than what Ford is putting in the vehicles now?
3. Has anyone went to a dealership and done this?
I really just need honest help here, I am frustrated with reading all of these different options and complaints not to mention you need this that and the other to make it work. Don’t get me wrong, if it is the only way it will work, I’ll do it, I just need step by step instructions. Thanks for your time and help with this…

Ford had a Nav radio option that will fit in your car. If yours is a late-build '07 the speed sensor will even be available and all functions will work. If not, you may get an error message at start up, but once acknowledged it will work OK, you just won't have speed-sensitive volume and dead-reckoning on the GPS when satellites are not visible. These radios are programmed to work with a particular model, so unless you get a used one from a Mustang expect to pay around $100 to get it set up to work on yours. The programming will make the lighting and subs all work as they are supposed to. I think any of the Nav radios from '06-09 Ford vehicles will work. They have a built in 6-CD changer that will play MP3 disks and give about 5 hours of music on each disk, plus a separate DVD player that is used only for reading the GPS maps. I have one and like it a lot.
If you want all the latest features with a built in hard drive and bluetooth and space shuttle tracking then you'll need to find a radio from a '10 Explorer or Escape, but note that the button colors may not match yours and these radios require an outboard amp to work at all, so you'll need to find that. This option is not a "plug and play" like the first option, but has been done and reported in the boards.
Finally, you can go aftermarket and get most everything you want. One of these radios gets sold on Ebay and even looks a lot like a factory radio with the same style ***** and buttons, although arranged a little differently. Check the boards as other have been trying these and posting their experiences. As with any aftermarket, it may not be a plug and play situation.

You need to set a price range, unless it really is open. And what functions/features you want. I installed a Pioneer AVH-P3200DVD and am totally happy with it. Makes my shaker 1000 hit much harder. There are a few write ups on here that contradict (sp) each other. I didnt use the expensive PAC unit, just the basic metra harness. Did use the 5v filter. I have an 05 that has a speed wire but didnt use it since my new HU didnt have that input. Did install a relay to be able to use the DVD while driving. I would bet after market is cheaper to get what you want. Check crutchfield or sonic electronics as two of the bigger online stores. Good luck with it.
