![Question](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
My e-brake handle vibrates to an annoying tone whenever I'm under moderate+ acceleration. I can take my hand off the shifter and hold the lower plastic part of the brake lever and it stops, so this is obviously where the noise is coming from. It really sucks as the sound of the GT under load w/ Flowmasters sounds so sweet, as we all know.
In the short term, I'm going to try a tie-wrap, black rubber band or something to clamp it together tight enough to prevent the vibration. But long term, does anyone have any other ideas to prevent this noise? I've been searching for a leather e-brake cover to replace the plastic one with no success. Also I was hoping one of those billitt aluminum e-brake handle covers would clamp down the plastic part, but it sound like they don't cover the lower plastic part of the lever.
Thanks guys/gals!

Well you could try super glue on the two pieces clamp them together and let it dry. Might help, but its probably something down lower causing it, but you never know. good luck

If you are looking for a cover for the lower part of the ebrake. I would look no farther than http://www.redlinegoods.com/

I think the MGW e-brake cover would work.
It's a coomplete wrap-around cover, and uses a hex screw to tighten from the bottom.
Even if it doesn't eliminate the noise, at least it will look tons better.

Yeah, I have this piece and it is pretty tight going on, so it might fix the problem. The hex screw just holds it in place. Dresses the car up too. Good Luck.

The MGW e-brake handle wont fix the problem. I have the same sound coming from mine, and I have their cover. Jim (Lowe!), is the sound around 1800-2000 RPM? Thats when mine occurs. I think I'm just going to get redlines when I have some money to spend.

Just a thought, but have you guys looked at the TSB concerning exhaust system vibration in that area? I forget what the number is, but it is on the list of TSBs here on the Forums. I had a little buzz that it helped with. It basically consists of tightening up the hanger that sits below the trans.

What you might be hearing is the "plunger" rod inside of the handle rattling. What I did was to take apart the plastic housing and use weatherstrip foam between the rod and the plastic housing which took care of the noise. While you are in there take a look at where the parking brake assembly rests when the handle is in the full down position. On my '00 GT it was metal to metal and causing a noise...I took some rubber door edge strip (about 1") and slid it on the bottom metal edge so no more noise there either. you can also dynamat extreme the tranny tunnel all around the shifter area (must remove the console for this step) and it will quiet things down a bit as well.
Good luck
Good luck

The sound is heard higher than around the 2000 RPM range. It occurs when under moderate/hard acceleration, so it vibrates all thru the RPM range.

Thanks for the link to Redline. That's likely the end all be all solution. Maybe I'll take the plastic covers off the lower part of the handle and drive around just to make sure it's isloated to this piece.
