Not to beat this to death, but I thought I saw a post over here about an 8" sub that was a direct drop in replacement without doing any door mods. I'm trying to keep the wife's car stock as I'll take all the stuff out of it when she upgrades can anyone tell me what speaker that was?

You have seen that post, and I am working on getting those drivers manufactured, or at least I'm going to aid in testing. The Dayton RS225-4 SHOULD drop right in, but new holes would have to be drilled, and then the stock grill won't fit. The Directed Studio 8 Neo will drop in, but it lacks low end, is very expensive, and sometimes hard to find. It is actually a midbass driver, not a subwoofer. Give it somemore time and we'll have a really good drop in. OR, give George at AtomicLoudspeakers a ring and he'll re-cone the factory driver into something useful. Price is unknown.

These would absolutely fit, but $$$$$ and they would only make for punchy midbass drivers in the .41 cubic feet we have.

 

Thanks, do you know if they sell something similar to what you posted with a dual voice coil? I've been looking at the Morel Elate series 9" woofer which is actually 8.75" do you know what the opening is really? Here's a link to the stuff I've been looking at. We put a complete Morel setup in a Z06 and man talk about awesome sound.
