I did not mask the letters. Steady hand and a fine brush. I masked off the aluminum from the plastic for the enamal and acrylic.
Do you happen to have pics of that I was just going to do that today but I was wondering how it would look on the plastic, I want a glossy finish. Thanks.

Thanks for the info Mark. I am going to use the same method. Did you spray the acrylic over the whole aluminum part? I guess you didn't paint the plastic stripes then, did you?

You are supposed to spray the area with soapy water. This keeps the letters from sticking so you can move them around. When you have them where you want, let dry overnight. It will be as if the soapy water was never there.

my problem was the letters sticking to themselves not to the area.

I saw a post that somebody had used Testors model paint for the letters. What kind did you use?
Rust Oleum... Probably not the best for it.

I only painted on the aluminum. Black Letters. I did not want to paint on the plastic at all.

If I get time I will take a pic. Its only letters folks. Do we really need a pic?

Thanks for the info guys. I have mine coming in the mail as I write this. I went with the red letters, as I have the Black GT with ICAP. If I have a hard time I'll just paint them.

Aren't you worried about that flying off if the airbad deploys?
