I received the pedal today and installed it. The 3 barbed prongs are very heavy-duty and you will need a mallet to gently nudge the pedal into place on a pre-08. The pedal won't interfere with the clutch unless you have wide feet or your outer sole clips the bottom of the pedal. Even then the pedal shouldn't "lift off" since it clips into the carpet foam from the side.

A pic of mine installed. Custom made by Reg for the Legend Lime Registry (hence the LLR) Excellent piece Reg. I recommend it 100%. As far as the clutch goes I hit the edge of it with my shoe once in a while and that reminds me to center my foot on the pedal. No problem catching it with the side of your shoe on release.

Here's a pic of the dead-pedal installed in my GT. The installation was painless and this ought to have come from the factory in my humblest opinion. Ford had no reason to cheap out on the dead pedal considering they equipped the fleet-only 2007 rental Taurus with one. GM also equips them on the G6 rental cars. I would think the flagship car in the Ford lineup deserves a dead pedal and other amenities.

The only things I would suggest are:
textured grip tape or textured styling to make it look like an extra "pedal" rather than a flat surface.

I bought the blank pedal because I did not want any debris or mud getting stuck in the carpet but I'm wondering if it gives the wrong impression to someone else that looks in and sees a stainless steel plate.

Got mine in today. It literally took longer for me to walk to my work bench and grab a mallet than it took to install this thing. Nice piece, nice price.

Question: do they rust?

Here is what they look like before they are bent to fit in place, showing the "spikes" that hold it into place. These are made out of heavy metal and lazer cut.
