Changing Shaker 500 to 1000
Hey all....My father bought a 05 with Shaker 1000 and hates it. He wants the 500 that I have so I guess I will get a 1000 for free.
The shaker 1000 has 1 plug that connects everything.
Is there a kit to install this into a shaker 500 setup?
Is the 05 like prior models with all the wiring already ran??

I was thinking that I could just replace the 500 head unit with the 1000 head unit...and add the rear end Sub Unit with Amplifiers attached by the plug...
Am I wrong.

Turn on stereo, select FM, push preset 3 and 6 at same time. Unit will go through a self test and will show the revision number, also shows a config number. Wondering if the 500 can be reprogrammed to have the 1000 on/off option. It could also work just from having the correct plugs attached to an ohm load of sorts.
My 06 GT showed up at the dealer the other day with the shaker 500 in it, not the shaker 1000 like I ordered. Overseas military sales is looking into how much it would cost, what it entails, etc. to switch it. I also asked them to find me an answer as to how this mistake could happen. I'll post more info as I find out. I'm thinking it's a pretty expensive switch after the car is already built because if I'm not mistaken it's more than just switching the head unit and adding the subwoofers. All the speakers get upgraded too. Can anyone confirm?
Maybe I can get them to just cut me a check for what it would cost them and I'll go buy my own system?

Is everyone positive about thw harnesses being different? I put a Shaker 500 in my '05 Focus. The Focus had the upgraded Sonny OEM system in it. Everything fit - the electrical connections were exactly the same - no problems. I had to swap out the brackets, but that was no problem with the fit or the harness. I could not get the 500 display to light up with normal "lights- off" - and I could not tell the difference in sound (the Focus has one sub-woofer in the back). I swamped them back.
There are no functional differences between the 500/1000. The 1000 simply adds the 2 extra subs in the trunk. My car has the 500, and the wiring harness is in the trunk for it- I don't know where/if it is in the dash as of yet- I just got the thing an hour ago.

That's odd, mine does have the harness in the trunk, but it is NOT behind the head unit. I ttok it out just to see (and survey for head unit replacement). I think that wiring could have even been useful for aftermarket installation if utilized correctly- signal transfer to trunk and remote turn-on would have been simple. hmmmm...
Well, I have the Shaker 1000 trunk speakes, amps and I've built a harness to replace the missing wires to power, ground, signal and "turn" on signal. Mounting points are all there for the subs.
I've tested the setup on the bench with the Shaker 1000, all works..
NOW, after I install, I'll need to go to the dealer to have the Shaker 1000 head unit programmed to "talk" on the "MS CAN" network buss in the car, otherwise the radio/CD/Subs all work fine, but NO backlighting on the radio!
Ah, just another hurdle in the Shaker 500 to 1000 upgrade

I still can not locate a shaker 1000 harness in the rear of the car. Can you tell me where you located it
? I am sure if you have the harness in the rear, then the harness in the front is built into one of the 3 plugs in the rear of the deck. I have all 3 plugs now, and do not have the 1000, only 500.
I know Ford runs Chassis electrical before suspension/interior are assembled. Electronics install (Cluster, head Unit) come way later. That's why we have so many unused plugs/wires/etc/. I don't see Ford runing a seperate Harness Part # for the 1000 vs. the 500, but I could be wrong.
