I was just going over all of my Shaker 1000 system really closely, trying to figure out the whole system. I can't seem to get the subs out of both the enclosure in the trunk, and the enclosure in the doors. I have taken out all of the bolts, but they seem to still be held in place somehow. Maybe thay are just sealed with some type of seal, or there is some type of retainer from the inside, ... I am not sure. If anyone can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone has replaced the speakers already, what did you replace them with? I am thinking of putting JL or Alpines in. Thanks again!

Maybe I am missing something, why did you get the Shaker 1000 if you are removing all the speakers and replacing them anyway? Wouldn't it of been better to get the 500 and then change the speakers?

I was kinda thinking the same thing. I would expect only the bolts held them in place.

I might change them later, not now. With the Shaker 1000 though, I now already have it wired to the trunk, with an enclosure. Plus, the car just came with it. The car I ordered did only have the Shaker 500, but I went and bought this off of the lot. I wanted it now, not 3 months down the line.

Either more than bolts are holding them in, or they are wedged in there really tight. The ones in the doors, I can pull them away from the door a tiny bit, but they go right back.

The whole Shaker 1000 system is way too expensive to begin with. Quit patronizing me, I just asked a question. Can anybody help?

I don't know how much help this would be, but when I had to take the speakers out of a speaker box at my last theatre, they were sealed in there with a caulk or liquid nail type material, along with the screws. You might need to get something to break that seal along the edge of the speaker. Hopefully it won't damage anything.

OK finally someone has the same idea I have,,, I have used JL for the past 12 years and will continue to use JL for the time being I am replacing the shaker 1000 tens in the trunk with either jl10w0 (cheap version) or jl 10w3v2 (mid price version). I have looked at the specs for the shaker 1000 sub box and the specs for the jl 10's they are identical for each other. Now power for the subs on the other hand the factory will work but I have yet to find the amps for the shaker 1000. they are missing, I know they are there because all of the shaker 1000 subs are working, either way the 10w3v2 is probably the way to go. I am getting the shaker 1000 and am replacing the rear deck 5 x 7's, the 8's in the door with you guess it jl8wo, and the tens in the back with jlw3v2. I do not have my stang yet, I will have it in may but I have test drove one w/shaker 1000 and basically tore the trunk apart and could not find the amps. About the subs not coming out, hmmm they probably have some sort of seal around the sub to help keep them and the box air tight, but if thats the case just try to find yourself a nice small flathead and try to slowly pry the sub out, Also since you are going to be the guinea pig we need pictures and a long detailed essay on how well the jl subs fit into the factory box location. Thanks for any help up front. I'll reply to ya if you have any questions about the jl's...

Come on you can expect this when posting a question like that. B)

Btw there's a guy in this post that had his Shaker 500 doorwoofers replaced by JL's, maybe he can help you out:

Is there an amp in the trunk? I know it seems like a lot of power, but is it possible that all of the power comes from the head unit? I don't know where an amp would be unless it is in the enclosure. Maybe. If someone finds out, let us all know.

I FOUND THE AMPS!!!!
The amps for the Shaker 1000 are behind the sub enclosure. It looks all nice and tucked away once you pull the enclosure out. There are two amps back there. Are they for the two subs in back, or is one of them for the trunk subs, and one of them for the door subs? Also, the subs in the enclosure have a bolt that goes all the through the back of the enclosure that you have to unbolt before they can come out. So if you want to change the trunk subs, you have to pull out the enclosure. If anyone finds out how to pull out the door subs, let us know. Thanks.
