How much for the black AC vents?
$45 used from a TMS member. It was actually kind of hard to find a set. The only offers I got were for swapping with someone. I like to keep all my original parts so that wasn't going to work.
Here are the silver IUP vents I took out of the car. I put them all at different angles to show exactly what they look like. The red circles show the tabs that hold them in.

Yes to your first question.

As for the second question, yes, it could be done, but it would be a lot more difficult. Probably involve some cutting and gluing.

Just found this thread, and I have the opposite situation from NOLAGT. I bought a GT without the IUP because I don't care about mycolor etc...but I do want all of the silver for the dash. I would be willing trade, or buy silver IUP pieces to put in mine.....

I still have not gotten my car so I dont know what I want to do yet. After I see the dark iup I may want to get that one day. I would sell ya the light silver ones if I ever do the swap.

Man I love that my color thing...buddies GT has it...realy neat.

I got the price from my local ford dealer to replace the IUP silver dash to the black dash. The total cost for 4 parts is $360.00 before discount. So if you want to change the color witout painting I would be happy fork over $360.00 for a New look

so how to you get to those tabs? do you have to take the dash apart?

ok ... early on, carrying a plant stand, i put a small dent in the IUP alum. cover over the passenger airbag. I went to the dealer and they said, bad news, those covers are fused to the airbag and to fix, you need a new airbag ($1000 total). luckily, i just added a GT emblem over the dent and it looks great. I like the black vents and would love to think about a swap, but, I don't think y'all can pull off the airbag cover ...

All I did was pry them out with my fingers by pulling on (and behind) the chrome ring. It takes a little pressure but they'll come out. I just went down and popped one out just to make sure it would work and it did.
A small screwdriver (WITH A RAG!!) would work also.

I'm pretty sure you do have to buy the whole thing.
Either way you do have to remove the airbag to replace those panels.

so the vents just basically pull out, you kinda stick your fingers inside and release the tabs?
