The blue LEDs do not produce as much visible light as the white LEDs (obviously) but they have some components of UV light that allow fluorescents to glow, and I find that there's enough light for me to find objects in the car without hurting my night vision. I like to highlight important roads on my maps, so the highlighted marks glow under the blue light. I suppose you could buy different LEDs and just swap them out to find what you like. I may convert to red, green, amber, or white depending on my mood!

Well, I drove last night with them and I changed my mind about the blue LEDs. I agree with you that they let you look at a map without hurting your night vision.
As far as directions being too small for me to read at night, I just simply cut and pasted the directions into a Word doc and changed the font to be as big as I wanted. Problem solved! I should have thought of that before.

I don't know if this place has been mentioned but they have the led map lights at a pretty cheap price, $5.00 each. Cheaper for white and red.
Superbrightleds.com
ordered the 921 X12 in blue. Probably won't get them until monday.

Those aren't going to be as bright as the SMT LEDs since each SMT chip is going to have multiple LEDs (like 4-6). So if you have 5 SMTs, that's 20-30 LEDs.
Oh and FYI, that is how LED headlamps are made. They use multiple chips that have multiple white LEDs per chip. Expect Ford to adopt LED headlamps about 10 years from now, after Audi, Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes have had their share of the fun.

Actually arrived friday but didn't check the mail.
They were exactly what I was hoping for. At $4.95 each (for blue, red and white are $1.00 less) they are an inexpensive option.
If these are 10 being brighter than stock, I'd say stock would be 7.5 for comparison sake. They would be brighter if they didn't have to go in at a steep angle, they can't take the same advantage of the reflector the the stock bulbs get. Also I'm sure the white would be considerably brighter than blue.
I understand the chip led's are probably brighter but they cost more. These will light up your interrior more than enough to find dropped keys late at night, rumaging for a cd or for whatever you would use the lights for in the first place. They clearly light up your interrior blue as your walking to the car, looks really cool.
Got comments at work already, although they were teasing me, but hey atleast they noticed lol.
I would have taken pictures but my only digital camera is my cell phone and it takes crappy pictures.
I give the product and price a

I just got two pairs. One with SMT's and one with the focused cluster of LEDs..
So the $25 pair that I originally got finally broke. One of the LEDs just flashes like a strobe light and makes me want to break out in epileptic seizures. Worst deal ever. I couldn't even stand having the car door open because it blinked so obnoxiously.
