bose sound system
You can put anything in the car, as long as it fits the holes. The front and rear speakers can fit 5 x 7s, if i remember correctly(you will definately want to double check that), and the door subs are 8". The head unit is a double din, so you should be able to fit pretty much anything in there. I'm not sure if bose sells sound system kits for cars, but I would strongly suggest Alpine, Kenwood or maybe even Pioneer as alternatives. If you buy all individual componets from the same manufacturer, they tend to work best- since this is basically what Bose does when they sell a system. Sorry I can't give you more info, I'll let you know if I come across more info.
The sub is 8" and I am pretty sure the head unit is double din. There have been a couple of people that installed a kenwood double din LCD head unit with no modding to the center console. Also, I know that one of the board members installed some JL 8" subs in the doors as replacements. The depth was a problem but his install shop did some fiberglass work to get them to fit. You could obviously find an 8" sub replacement with the proper mounting depth however. The alternative, which is what I am pursuing, is to get a 3-way component setup and put that in the door.
On a sidenote, you can do a lot better than bose for an aftermarket setup. Checkout Focal, MB Quart, Boston Acoustics, or Infinity speakers.
