Black air conditioning vents

I know this has been discussed, but what I couldn't figure out was if you buy the 4 vents from the standard GT from Ford, is it like $90 bucks a vent or $90 bucks for the 4 of them. I have the silver IUP dash and would like to put in the black vents to give it that contrast. Anybody?

I've never seen the black vents. I have the CF dash option on my Premium GT, I'd be interested in doing a swap too.

Photo of this setup

It really gives you a good contrast and makes the dash look more sporty as well. Apperently, Saleen does this already on their models.

Yeah, I really want the black vanes too, especially when the silver colored ones have the internal mechanism painted silver too, the stuff never meant to be seen...

The black comes on non-IUP cars, such as my wife's V6. When I approached her with the idea that I wanted to swap my silver for her black, she said, "No way. I don't want those ugly silver things in my car!".... These pics are my wife's car.

BTW, do these vents just pull out to remove them?

Yea, those just pull out. I attached a PDF file that was on this site a while back. BTW, reading about your previous Camero.....that must have been one hell of a BEAST.

I just swapped mine out with a guy who didn't have the IUP. Takes all of 1 second each. It's a really good look. Especially with the NEXUS Gauges.

I just pulled them out, removed the chrome looking trim ring, and spray painted. Looks Great, and Saved Some Cash for other mods!

I made a post in the want to buy section a few months ago when I first got my GT about switching with someone with IUP. I had the black vents and he had silver and we just swapped by mail very easy and both are very happy You should try that.

Many options

Thanks to everyone for all the options. I don't feel confident enough to spray paint them, so I think that's out of the question. But, I did get an email quote from that Ford parts seller, so that's a possibility. I'll have to checl out the buy/sell idea. Thanks again.

I bought a used set off a guy that had installed the aftermarket panels and then bought new silver vents. I think I paid $40-60.

They're real easy to remove. Just make sure you pull on the vents themselves as oppossed to the chrome trim ring. The clips that hold that ring on the "cup" are fragile. The vents are a lot stronger.

Let me se if I can find the thread with pics of the vents removed...

EDIT: Looks like the pics where lost in the crash from a few months ago and I guess I deleted them from my computer. If any one really needs to see pics, I'll take some later. (I still have the silver vents) For now, here are pics of the black ones installed.

Black Vents

Anybody have a photo of black vents with the woven charcoal dash option?
