Autometer Nexus Gauge Install Problem
ok heres my problem. when i start my car it does the startup initializatino sequence and then immediately does the shutdown sequence.
I have it wired like the following:
Red Wire (constant power) - wired it to cigarette lighter power. I figured i can always turn my Sirius radio on from the cig lighter at any time even when car is off so this must be constant power.
Yellow Wire (Switched 12v) - Wired it to the ignition wire. The same wire i tapped for my Push start button which works perfectly.
Black Wire (Ground) - I used an existing ground point behind the drivers side kick panel.
heres the kicker. If i push and hold the engine start button the gauges complete their initilization sequence and stop at the default color and all stay on. If i start the car with the button and continue to hold it it powers up perfectly and when i rev engine i watch the boost gauge register the boost.
I am not an electrical person by any means and have always hated electrical work. What could be the issue?

nevermind im an idiot i just realized what i did wrong from rereading my own post. the switched 12v wire is wrong. it is switched but after crank does not recieve any more power. thats why they are turning off. i gotta find a switched 12v wire now.
Does anyone know of a switched 12v wire in or around the ignition? any help would be appreciated.

I ran mine from the fuse box. If you are looking at the fuse box you will see three open positions. The one on the lower left is 12vdc all the time. The two that are on the upper right are switched.
