Anyone here work in a custom car audio/visual shop?

When I first got the car I wanted to add satellite radio and navigation, so I took it to a car audio shop and they installed an eclipse unit with sirius radio. What I did not know was where they were going to put the antenna for the satellite radio. I am not too thrilled with the location (roof). Does anyone know what kind of work would go in to relocating this antenna to the dash or if its possible to get good reception from inside the car? Ideally, I would want the sirius antenna to go next to the gps antenna (which is on the passenger side of the dash). And plus, they ripped that rubber lining, which I doubt is repairable.

(Before the stripes were installed)

This is the gps antenna

On my Expedition, I installed the GPS and XM antennae on top of the radio, under the front dash. Completely hidden, wires easy to run and reception is good. We did the same thing (XM only) on my son's '01 GT with no problems. I haven't got around to put XM in my '06 Mustang, so I'm not sure it will work, but it will be the first thing I try.

Satellite radio has a reception footprint... in other words, some places get stronger signals than others. We live in the middle of the country, so the signal is pretty strong. I see you're in New England, so your situation may be a little different.

I've driven the Expedition to several parts of the country (predominantly west), and never had any problems with reception.

I installed mine on a cross bar behind the radio, both for Sirius and my nav system (Z2) . only time I have poor reception is going under a big pine tree in my drive and large overpasses. One mistake I made was I did not use 2x tape on it, just the magnets and I think they may have slid around.

I've also heard of people installing them on the rear package tray under the carpet. There's a recessed spot in the tray perfect for the puck style antenna.

I put mine on the rear package tray under the carpet. Completely hidden and great reception. I tried putting one on the dash of our Expedition and had a lot of problems with reception, so I have to move it to the roof.
