iPhone cradle/charger in my Mustang

A few weeks ago I got a new iPhone 3G, and have had a lot of fun using the build in GPS! It has a moving map display that shows you moving along. I think it's really cool to see that blinking blue dot and the map moving in the background.

It is hard to use the GPS function while driving by yourself, and so I bought a charger cradle for it that plugs into the powerpoint in the dash. It also works with the first generation iPhone, and most iPods.

It's $36 at Amazon after rebate and includes free shipping. I think it looks real good in my Mustang. Maybe better then my pics show.

Here's a link to where you can find out some more about it. I'm not saying that you should buy it here, just FYI.

I don't have an Iphone, but that does look nice except... how well does it stay standing upright during "spirited driving"? It looks like a hard corner would make it rotate with the lighter socket as a pivot point.

Well, I wouldn't try to use it when your doing "spirted driving." It holds it pretty well when you go over bumps, and you can also turn it on it's side.

I've used it for a couple of 35-40 minute trips so far and it's nice to have since when ever you pick up an iPhone you'll end up touching the screen which will cause the iPhone to screw up since it thinks you want to zoom in or something. Plus when you use the GPS on the iPhone it runs down the battery pretty quickly since it's using the GPS, and the Internet to update the map. So, it's nice to have a chrger built in to keep your battery from going down while you drive.

It's a handy gadget to have for your iPhone.

Thanks, I've been looking for one for my 3G. You should also check out Dynolicious in the App Store, it's awesome! That mount would (hopefully) be perfect for it. That's what I want it for. Think I'll go order one now.

Gald to help, but I couldn't find Dynolicous in the app store. Do you have a link, or maybe what category it's in?

I caution carefull if left in power supply a while theres a chance it'll blow your fuse for the whole dash board & instrument panel. and if so that fuse is passenger kick board it happened to me !

Well! Pretty impressive review! I liked the video.

I'm not sure I need a performance right now, but it's cool to know that I could get one for $13. Thanks guys!

I can't really see the charger short out my fuse, but thanks for the heads up!

Glad to help! But, it looks like Amazon raised the price by $10 after I did the review!

Where's my cut of that?

That dynolicious thing looks cool. Would be cool to get an idea how accurate it is. Would be way cooler if it used the GPS capability to track performance also. (Maybe it does?)

I downloaded the Dynolicious program. Don't know how accurate it is, yet, but I'll be sure to take it to the track with me next time. I can definitely tell you the speedo on it is accurate.

If you get this program, make sure you calibrate it and it should be pretty accurate.

BTW, 3G iPhone friggin rocks. This is the device I've been waiting for. I'm so tired of mobile internet. This is awesome.

It probably uses GPS to get the speed. Should also use it for timed distances. GPS is supposed to be accurate down to like a meter so there you go. Will be interesting to see how it stacks up on the track.
