07 Gentex Homelink/Temp/Compass? FIXED!!!!

What is everbody using for the Constant power and switch on power source's from the passenger side fuse panel on a 07 GT? Does it matter which wire goes to the constant power? Also does your compass/temp stay on all the time with the keys removed? Sorry if these are dumb questions, but I am trying to install this with out directions.

Kevin
EDIT...
Thanks to everyone who helped out getting the mirror to work.

The only reason you need a constant power source is to operate the garage door buttons before you start the car. Everything else should be on switched power. The temp and compass should not be on when the key is off, and that one lead that doesnt seem to do anything is intended to cancel the autodim feature when the car is in reverse. I will look for the installation instructions if you need them..

If you would that would be great. I guess I am having a problem. Nothing seems to be happening when I have it running through swith power. When I have it going through constant power, the temp and compass stay on all the time. I didnt think that was right. If it helps out, I have the ten pin connector. I pluged the temp sensor in to slots 1 and 2. I was told it didnt matter which went in either slot. The connector had 3 wires coming out of it. 1 ground and 2 power. I guess this is where I am getting it wrong. I don't know which wire runs what. I know now though, the constant is for the Homelink only, which makes sense. I just need to find the right power out of the Passenger fuse panel and get the right wire to it.
Tin Tony yes, I would like those instructions.

I just scanned in my manual a few days ago for another TMS member. PM me your email addy and I will send the PDF to you via email.

Also, run a search for installation instructions for the Gentex mirror, I posted pix of my fuse block and which fuse numbers to run your wire taps to.

I'm at work or I would just re-post the pix for you.

EDIT: Here's the link! http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showth...omelink+Mirror

Post #38 on the second page has my pix.

Did you have the upgrade package with the compass mirror originally? If you did, you don't need to go to the fuse box. Everything you need is right there at the old mirror.

Exclamation Need help!

My car is at the dealer right now. I already have the auto-dimming mirror with the compass and I'm trying to have them install the Homelink/compass/temp/auto-dimming mirror.

They now are telling me (after breaking my windshield and replacing it getting the old mirror off) that the new mirror CANNOT be installed on a car with the factory auto-dimming mirror.

They say there's a wire in the car that goes to my old mirror that needs to be connected to something because now a security light and/or code comes on.

I even found the post from Mustang Buster from 12/2006 and showed them. What's the big mystery here!!!

As we left it today, they are going to order a "pig-tail" so they can put the wiring back together so my old mirror will work again and just give the car back to me. Any ideas or tips I can pass along???

If someone had the compass/auto-dimming mirror prior to upgrading and could tell me where the wires go that would be great. I even had the Ford PDF instructions for the mirror.

Hey,
I just ran the two wire's down to the passanger fuse box. I used to open fuse slots. 1 for constant power, and one for standy by power.
They too cracked my windshield when they took my mirror off for me.
If you need me to find what fuse slots I used, let me know and I will run out and look.

I'm trying to figure out where this "third wire" goes. I believe it's the white/green stripe wire which is the reverse defeat wire. Where does this connect? Just to the constant power black wire of the Gentex or some else?

It sounds like people have not even connected this white/green stripe wire and everything still works. I wonder if there's another problem in the wiring somewhere?

I'd hate for them to put everything back the way it was and STILL have the security code/light come on!

It Works!!!

Thanks to Mustang Buster I found out that the extra white/green stripe wire was the auto-dimming reverse defeat wire and it needed to go into pin #7 of the 10-pin connector on the mirror. This helped since I was getting a "reverse defeat circuit fail" light on the computer.

They had my car all day on Friday. Turns out they replaced a module in the computer with one from another Mustang since my light wouldn't reset. Then they had a F-250 with a diesel run away in the shop and it filled the place with white smoke and soot. I had told them not to wash my car but after that they sent it over to their detail shop for a degreasing and wax. Finally got the car back yesterday and everything with the mirror appears to work.

Now THAT is interesting. (the fact that you get a "reverse defeat circuit fail" error)

Sounds like we are better off just getting a standard mirror and THEN installing the auto-dimming one. Less hassle!

Glad to see it worked for you.
