Installing Gentex Mirror

I bought the Gentex mirror with temperature and compass (No homelink) and I am trying to figure out how to install it. The pigtail that plugs into the mirror has 7 wires, and I don't know what they are all for.

Anyone able to help?

Cheers

Wait until I get home, I will scan my instruction manual and post it here for you. It covers ALL Gentex mirror installations.

I made a scan of the complete instruction manual for ALL Gentex mirrors, including wiring diagram and programming instructions.

It's in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. Unfortunately, this site won't let me upload the document. I have spent the last 1/2 hour trying, it says "upload failed". It's a 2.4 MB document.

PM me your email addy and I'll send it to you.

A.

PS:

In the meantime, here is what the manual has to say about the wiring:

BLACK: Ground Wire
RED: +12v switched power (ignition switch)
GREEN: Temp probe wires (compass/temp mirrors only, no polarity specified)
YELLOW: +12v constant power (map light model only)
BROWN: Dome light circuit (map light model only)

Hope this helps!

I think my memory is coming back to me. Mine also had more wires than needed, but I only used what the instructions stated. For example, one wire was for a backing-up (used to turn off auto dim in reverse). I used a total of 4 wires. Did you get instructions which stated which wires to use? If not I an probably email it.

My instructions do not tell me which wires to use - they are pretty vague.

The instructions still don't match up to the colours I have on the harness. Can you tell me which wire is for what going from left to right?

Thanks.

I think I narrowed it down to the far left pin is hot - the one next to it is ground. The 2 far right pins are for the sensor. One of the middle 3 is to be connected tothe backup lights.

Cheers
