I have respect for those who can lay vinyl over the whole car. :worship: I put on my own vinyl rocker stripes and cussed the whole time. First, any dry spot will stick like there's no tomorrow, and often trying to "unstick" it results in stretching the vinyl. Then it doesn't want to lay flat. Then the wind flips a corner over onto itself, and that sticks together, and you stretch that part out of shape. Then you get it mostly smooth and find a gnat under the stripe. :bang: Granted, I'm a real novice here, but I'd really have to be financially motivated to try LeMans stripes without some experienced help. Not trying to discourage anyone, but it's not a "slap 'em down and smooth 'em out" job, either. (Although I did see some quickie jobs at a dealership, and believe me, they weren't adding value to those cars! )

I was just quoted $950.00 for just clear over the stripes...where you can see feel the edge....and once again around $2,000 for complete clear where you cant see/feel the stripes....for those who have their stripes painted which option did you fo with? Complete Clear or jus clear the stripes?
Without a doubt... pay the extra grand to have the entire panels cleared. If they only clear the stripes themselves, not only will that edge be even thicker than having vinyl (so you might as well get vinyl) but the edge of the stripe is prone to cracking. Anytime you have an edge of clear-coat exposed, you are asking for it. All it would take is someone scratching that edge, or a rock hitting it, etc. and once the clear starts to crack, it's not going to stop. IMO if you are going to pay the money to have the stripes painted on, get it done right.
