Talking

Well it's been 2 days now looking and reading about rims and tires, I was'nt even planning on changing my rims and tires but then after reading some posts I changed my mind

I finally decided to go with the Chrome 2005 Deep Dish Bullitt Wheel Set of 4 (2-18x9 & 2-18x10) from MustangTuning because of the price and they look friggen cool .

I was looking at Pantera Valera, Foose Nitrous and Boyd Coddington Smoothie II but the price was a little high for me, for the price of these rims I could buy 2 sets of the ones from MustangTuning just gives me a reason to change rims again in a year or so

Then the tire decision was a whole other story after reading about 1000 posts on the topic (and thanks to some very helpful knowledge from adrenalin and Vegasjay) I had the decisions down to 255/45 front 285/40 rear with either BFGoodrich G-Force KDW or Nitto 555, I really like the way the Nitto look so I decided on Nitto's....But guess what...Nitto does not make a 285/40 :bang: the 255/45 front 285/40 rear matched prefectly together

I thought I was back to square one, then I found a post by 05redfiregt where he has the same setup I'm thinking of getting with 275/40 rear :yay:

So will the 285/40 and 275/40 combo work OK? I was going to install some Eibach Pro's too and wanted to make sure the car would be level and low to the ground I don't want the rear end standing up higher than the front...want it to look like adrenalin 's ride

Thanks guys/gals

PS Spending way too much time on these boards for I car I don't even have yet

Looks like I will be selling my fanblades soon too

Aussie I'm very happy with the Nitto's I wanted them and like you I had to settle for the 275/40's. I am glad I did, it all came together great. If I can answer any of your questions PM me.

If you talked to adrenalin and Vegasjay I;m sure you know the 275/40's are too short and will not only give you a bigger wheel well gap, but will also mess up your speedometer, tripometer, and odometer which will also screw up your gas mileage info in your message center.

As for leveling the car out, the Pro-Kit (or any other kit for that matter) won't level it. They all drop the front about as much as the back. There's about 3/4" difference in height comparing the front wheel well to the rear and I haven't seen any kit that drops the rear that much compared to the front.

StangNut: Thanks for the info on the Pro-Kit, as for the rim size I didn't actually talk to adrenalin and Vegasjay, but read posts they has made on the subject. Like i said I was going for 255/45 front 285/40 rear which would be perfect but Nitto does not make a 285/40, thats why I chose 255/45 front and 275/40 rear.

Unless someone knows a front/rear combo besides 255/45 & 285/40 that would not mess with speedometer, tripometer, and odometer.

I guess I could get a tuner or go with the BFGoodrich G-Force

Enfynet: i edited the typo

285/40 front 275/40 rear? That seems a little backwards. + you said Nittos don't make 285s... If anything I'd say 255/45 f and 275/45 r... but that would still mess with your speedo, etc

I'm confused like Justin, the 555's don't come in 285/40 so how can you consider that with 275/40's?
IMO I would go 255/45 front & 285/40's rear in BFG rubber. I don't mind BFG's, but I think you'd be happy with that setup.
Unless you meant going with 255/45 & 275/40's in Nitto's? That would look odd since you have a smidge more sidewall in the front tires than the rear.
So if you got BFG all would be solved.

I have the BFG's and from what little I know, they are not in the same class as the 555's. If you want a tire in the same class as the 555's, you might want to look at the Dunlop SP sport 9000.
Also available in the 285/40/18's are the Michelin Pilot Sports.
Both of those tires also come in 255/45/18's.

255/45-18
BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 = 161
Nitto NT 555 = 169
Dunlop Sport 9000 = 193.00
Michelin Pilot Sport = 250.00

275/40
Nitto NT 555 = 201

285/40
BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 = 229
Dunlop SP Sport 9000 = 291.00
Michelin Pilot Sport = 335.00

That's why I chose Nittos might have to go with the BFGoodrich after all

You are correct. I was just stating what I had. Sorry for the confusion. I thought about going 10 W in the back but decided it might be too much for the vert by the time I threw on the fat tires to go with them.
