Wheel Repair

I just bought some 18' polished bullitts off craigslist in another city, and although I got them for a very good price, it appears my idea of "perfect condition" differs from the Seller's. Anyway, there are a few little knicks here and there that I would like to get rid of. Anyone have any ideas about how to remove knicks from polished wheels, or at least smooth them out a bit?

Look like they are down to the metal.

Went sideways in the rain and this is what happened to the Polished 18" Factory Bullitt. If you look at my car now I'd bet you any money you coulnd't tell me which one it is, plus I couldn't confirm or deny!

you can try fixing it yourself. Here are some instructions that might help:

I've used Wheels America on a few occasions ...very pleased with their work (you do have to send the wheel off to them)...

fwiw....Not sure what type of damage you have, but....a couple of summers ago, I scraped the polished lip of my black bullits on a raised manhole cover. Street was being repaired...typical Boston potholes etc. Anyway, the lip was scraped about 3 inches in length, with a depth of 1/8in at the very beginning, where it first came in contact with the raised casting. Drove over to my friend's tire shop to ***** and moan about the conditions of the roads. Friend laughed...sent me for coffee in order to save himself from my whining. Got back 5 mins later and he had the tire broken down and the wheel spinning on a brake lathe. Can't remember if he used the drum cutter or just one tip in a rotor bit...but 20 mins of work, some touch up black on the inner lip, a blast of clear on the outer, and you could not tell that there had been any damage. Cost me coffee and a dinner!

The Hub Cap and Wheel Store on Shawnee Drive will repair them for $125 a rim. I had one done their last fall and they made it new all over again.

It cost me $60 to have the rim fixed and $24 for Firestone to take the tire off and put it back on with a new valve stem.

So all together I had $84 and some time into the repair. A new Bullitt wheel from Clevenger Parts (site sponser and sales source) was $225 last time I checked.
