Questions about painting mufflers

I'm preparing to put my Magnaflow mufflers back in service after I install some LT's and had a question about painting them.
I figure I'll paint the rear section (not the tips) with high temp black paint (green arrow in photo). Should I also paint the rest of the muffler (blue arrow)???
Also when you guys paint them, what type of primer do you use, if any?
Thanks,
Mark

I painted the exact same part of my GTA's with high temp flat black paint. I just made sure that they were clean before I sprayed them. No issues what so ever with the paint coming off and IMO it made the mufflers "disappear" when looking at the back of the car. I'm assuming that's why you want to paint them, correct?

Yes, exactly. Now that I put on the Gt500 rear cover, more of the muffler is visible through the cut outs because they are larger compared to the stock GT bumper cut outs. Also the rear bottom portion of the bumper cover is black and I figured that by painting them there would be no contrast, except for the tips.

I painted my violators with Silver wheel paint with no issues. Clean them with carb cleaner or some kind of degreaser and wipe them down with a lint free rag before spraying on your paint. The paint should last for a long time.

When I installed the GT take off on my V6, I painted it all (Except tips) with black engine paint, no primer, just cleaned. Installed 9/06 and no problems!
