Wheel Painting

Wheel Painting
So I have been thinking lately that I would like black wheels on my car.
I love my wheels, just whish they were black.
I am wondering if anybody has attempted to paint their wheels, please share your experience.
what type of paint did you use, did you remove the tire from the wheel, etc.
Also I am considering powder coating but this is a more expensive option.
any thoughts??
Thanks

I painted my Jeep wheels a couple of weeks back. They were rusty and in bad shape but when I was done they looked/look like offroad wheels. I used Duplicolor wheel paint and took each wheels off the jeep and masked the tires off and cleaned the wheel. Then I just sprayed at an even pace and it turned out very well. i say go for it! Oh an also. It's been pretty nasty out here when I live and the paint has held up with no problems at all.

Yeah, I painted my optional 17 inchers. It took me about 3 days. I used gloss black dplicolor engine enamel.
1. sanded down with 80 grit
2. sanded down again with 600 grit
3. one coat of primer
4. three coats of black paint
5. three coats of laquer
I did not have to separate the wheels from the tires. If you are going to keep them for a long time, you better get them powdercoated, cuz I doubt the paint will hold up, but I've had no problems so far.
