I have MyColor, and I am very disappointed that it doesnt translate to the center pillar, in fact, the guages are only custom when the lights are on. Otherwise, they are white (not bad, but, not what I wanted)

Everything else is puke green, even the message center IN the MyColor.

What is the easiest way to change the colors of the center pillar? Does anyone know if they are colored plastic overlays, or are they LEDs?

I too was a bit dissapointed that the MyColor feature only changes the guage cluster colors and not all of the colors in the car. I can understand why Ford did it this way, but I still wish MyColor controlled all the lights in the car. I have since just set the MyColor to green so that it matches the rest of the lights in the car. Changing the LEDs in the center pillar seems like too permanant of a solution though. But, I guess if you're certain of the color you want, perhaps that's not such a bad thing.

Any color would be better than that green.

Oh, I am certain of the color.. its all purple baby!! LOL Once I get my interior done, that green is going to make me really unhappy. I couldnt imagine everything done the way I want it, and those hideous green lights.

Reminds me of Will Smith in Independence Day, "Oh, you did NOT just shoot that green **** at me!" Its the same color!

The lights in the gauge cluster are all surface mounted LED's

I have been trying to figure out a way to get the cluster to remain "daytime" white at all times, and the simplest solution to this is to make an insert, or remove the existing LED lights and solder new ones of your liking in their place.

I made an insert out of flexible plastic and fastened several LEDS in place using hot glue, then using one large resistor I adapted the voltage down so that the LED lights would be bright but not burn out.

I need to actually add a few more LED's to the insert, but it will work fine.

the gauge cluster comes out very easily, and is basically a clipped together.

I took pictures of the needle positions, and then used a fork to pry them off of the shafts, and the cluster just pops apart.

you could make an insert for yours for about $15 probably since you just want the center to be different.

hope this helps!

Johnny, (thats my husbands name.. ) Can you make the insert out of any other color so that the daytime color is other than white?? Also, cant we use a clear plastic peice, then get colored LEDs???

Do you have pictures of your install?

the insert actually goes inside the gauge cluster in between the circuit board and the guages, the plastic is just a substrate for the LED's so it does not matter what color it is, but i used a sharpie to black out some spots on it in order to hide the green LED's.

I am currently re-working it and adding some more leds.

I originally wired the leds (i used white but you could use whatever color you want) in series, but it ended up not working like i wanted it to , so i re-wired them in parallel since it provides better redundancy anyway.

I am surprised that no after market mfg's have made inserts yet...

And tell me how much you want to make me one!

I aint kidding, I am sure there would be tons of people here alone that would go for it. If its an easy install, I am ALL over it.

That right there is attention to detail, and that is why I can't wait to see your car when it is finished. So hurry up already!!!
