I think the car may have designed for 18s, and thats why we have a 17 with a tall sidewall now that the 18s fell through. Heck, you could fit 19's in easily with the '05's overall tire diameter
Yup.

I noticed this also a while back. We had heard that there would be 4 different wheels available for the GT. We already know 3 of them: 17" bullits, 17" concept style, and 18" fanblades. In the pictures below, those are concept style wheels mounted to BF Goodrich KDW tires (you can tell by the tread pattern), that house the 18" fanblades. They look like 18" wheels. I wonder if this means that concept stlye wheels will be available in 18" also. If not, then why would Ford have them mounted to the same tires that the fanblades are mounted to?

From Brad's site, which is the same picture I received from a Ford rep at the L.A. Auto Show back in January

Does anyone know what the bolt pattern and the offset are on the 05?
I've heard conflicting numbers on this forum (some 5x5.5 and some 5x4.5)?

yup, CA_Stang... I'd like to see the concept style rims as 18s, too. Looks like they only sell them as 17s, tho

Aren't you trading less sidewall for more grip on the road (wider tire)? And I thought the less sidewall, the less roll on the tire and better handling?
depends on the car's engineering and tire quality

those wheels looked chopped on. They changed them after it became apparent the fanblades would not be available. They did it on the ford website too. All the 05 pics on ford sites with 18"s dissapeared
