IMO, that's still better than vinyl. You'll get the same edge with vinyl but then it becomes a pain trying to keep the edges of the vinyl clean from dirt, waxes, polishes, etc. $450 is around what a lot of people pay to have vinyl stripes professionally installed.

Painted +1. I decided to save a couple of hundred dollars and put on vinyl. Well, I've only had my car for about 6 month and I already have a couple of scratches in the stripes, which of course you can't polish out like in paint. And as you can see from this picture, I seem to have got too close to another car. So I'm looking a another hundred or so to replace just that part. And of course, they don't last more then 3 - 8 years due to sun damage.

Now that being said, I don't have any problem with the way they look. All in all thought, painting them on to start with will be more cost effective in the long run.

Not a good day. My son put down the door on the rear of my Car on Monday
nite and it put some major marks in the stripes so I stopped by at Dream Works
Customs today and they said they will repaint and re clear the rear of the car
just to bring it in on Sat. and it will be done by Sunday! These guys are the best and I would not going to any other shop in So.Cal. Jeff.

I know it's an old thread but 2006GT500 has alloy stripes from www.itspaint.com and it looks like they are painted. This would be a good choice if you were undecided if you wanted stripes.

Around me, the best price I can find is $2000 painted with full clear on the panels (seamless). However, the most interesting approach I've heard is theres a guy that will paint for $1500 but they do it like the Viper from the factory. Paint the stripes, wet sand, paint the clear (overshoot the stripes a little bit), then pull the tape off before the clear's even dry. It spreads out a little and then the next day while its still soft then blend and polish it into the existing clearcoat. Its not totally seamless like full clear is but its more than adequate for non-show cars.

I would keep checking around for other shops if your not in So.Cal.

Raul dose the paint ,wet sand, full clear for $795 oh ya he tells you to come back after 30 days for him to fully buff out the paint after the paint has had 30 days to set and that is in the price.
