Trunk Medallion?

I'm still not sure I have the final answer for a trunk medallion. I've had the stock GT one, even the Snake one for a while, now I have a pretty nice one from SHR. The car is a GT and I have no problem putting GT on there, but the stock medallion is just too shiny for my taste. Maybe the final solution would be to get a stock GT one and spray the chrome with dull lacquer spray. That was what I liked about the Snake medallion. The surrounding ring had a matte finish. Looks much better.

As I mentioned in another thread, I have mangled a couple of medallions trying to do transplants of the center section. Don't want to do that any more.

Any suggestions welcome.

Hey Northwest,

I feel your pain, I srewed the pouch trying to do the center change out emblem thing also trying to put a new one in for my SGT/BJ. Ended up buying two new Chrome GT Decklids with GT emblems from blue oval industries for about $20 each. One for the car and one to ship to Mike at MTM Unlimited with the disk he created for my car.

I will let you know in a couple of weeks how it goes, he creats emblems and does all that laser cutting stuff. Hope he can figure it out...

Glenn, yes please let us know how it came out

Post a pic when you get a chance. I sprayed the old banged up GT medallion with dull lacquer spray. It doesn't look too bad. But, I'll hold off until I see how you made out. Thanks.

Okay I sent a GT Chrome Emblem Priority Mail this morning to Mike at MTM Unlimited in Juniper, Florida along with the new emblem as soon as I get a response will let you know, in the short term on the second chrome GT emblem I applied a custom made 3 inch decal over the GT emblem and it looks factory. Those emblems just will not pop off. Will post as soon as I get something back.

Thumbs up Pictures of what I am trying to do

I have really bad luck at uploading pictures, but am going to try. The first should be a picture of my BJ/Emblem it faded out in the sun and the red Barrett Jackson in the middle faded out to a light gold, the second should be a copy of the replacement disk that MTM Unlimited made for me to put in a replacement chrome rear deck lid. Here goes...

I am going to try and post pictures next of how I messed up the center GT emblem in trying to remove it. Thanks for everyone's interest, if MTM Unlimited can figure this out then we have opened the door for more types of custom emblems...

Some pictures of what not to do

This is a couple of pictures of what I was trying to figure out, I thought the small watch screw drivers would make this a breeze, no such luck. The 3 inch round disk was made by MTM Unlimited. The last picture is what a Barrett Jackson Limited Edition Arizona Ford Dealers SGT/BJ emblem should look like on a 2008 SGT Mustang.

Personally, all the stock trunk medallions look like cheap plastic. I've seen some people do some creative things with the billet SHR pieces, which look very nice.

I hope you don't mind, but here is a picture of Northwests rear! There is another guy with Satin that did the powder coated 18" fr500 wheels and he blacked out his medallion and it looked sweet. Maybe a thought. I think is name is laxplayer.

MADSCOTSMAN, that is very cool. Did you do that yourself or have it made?

I just removed the GT emblem from the rear without taking the whole thing off.First i taped the chrome piece leaving the GT emblem showing, then i used the heat gun in low and heated at the 12'oclock and 6'oclock location for about a minute, waited 30 sec did it again about four times till the GT emblem started to buckle.I then used a butter knife and started to pry at the bottom while giving it heat,it came out in about five min without any damage other than the GT emblem which buckled in half.look at the pictures. All i have to do now is replace the emblem with the new one.

Are you sure your chrome deck lid holder didn't warp?

No,remember i am doing a controlled warm up,and the chrome medallion is attached to the car.So it would be hard for it to warp if you are careful .You just have to take your time, use the low heat setting and keep the heat gun moving, not stationary .Is the J&B emblem you are having made plastic or metal ? I may go with those, waiting till you get yours back before i make a decision

My rear medallion is from SHR - just painted the center part Satin Silver

Hey Glenn that custom center medallion of yours looks good. I'll try contacting those folks. Have you got a link to them I can use?
