trufiber KR replica hood for GT500 fascia
How about those of us that want the SS hood Yao?
hi 2006gt, i would say whichever one wins out will get the deal...
or if both have generated enough interest...both will be made...
i hope you keep your car. i truly think its not worth it to get a GT500. your car is amazing...
Yeah I'm not sure what to do, I've built a car that's faster than a Shelby and essentially has Shelby-esque looks, but it will still never be a Shelby.
who wants to take lead?
i apologize..my hood/fascia is in the works and needs my attention.
someone who is actually going to buy one should take over

thanks all...
What is it you like better about the SS? Have you seen them both side by side? Everyone at the Mid America that I spoke with was VERY one sided on the issue. When side by side there is a considerable difference in the way the hoods look. Even the trailing edge of the two are very different as are the vents. On the SS there is just a rectangular cut out with the louvers glued on from the underside. Looks very unfinished to me. I just don't get it. Just different strokes I guess but really would like to understand what it is some folks see in the SS hood.
What I like about it is the difference in the front of the hood. I've never been a huge fan of the '68 Shelby Style hood, and this one is just enough different that I love it. I like how it more looks like one big ram air as opposed to two nostrils. Don't get me wrong the KR hood looks great too and if they made one or the other I'd probably buy it, but personally I think the front of the SS hood is what sells it for me. I haven't seen it in person like you James and you might be right it might be rough, and hopefully Shelby will clean up the looks of it, but just from pics I don't see much wrong with it. Of course I wouldn't leave the heat extractors black either.
Though the TruFiber hood was not a direct copy of the DCF hood, at least one area was and that was the squared off chopped trailing edge to the scoops. It wasn't until I saw the back of the TF hood that I went back and noticed that the DCF hood had this straight edge style chop off as well. The Cervini 68 KR hood has a much cleaner line on the trailing edge as it follows the curve of the back of the hood. If TruFiber were to do a GT 500 hood or if another company were to produce 68KR hoods I'd hope they would dress up the trailing edge of the hood for a smoother transition and not look like someone took out a straght edge and a utility knife to design it.

The first is the only photo I have of the rear edge of the DCF hood. It doesn't blend as well as the curved #2 Cervini hood but it doesn't have that straight chopped look of #3 the TruFiber hood. All of the KR hoods I've seen since DCF have a more pronounced look, from higher intakes to sharp lines between the hood and the intakes. TruFiber has been truer to the original 68 KR hood but the DCF hood flowed to a smooth transition like the raised portion of our OEM hoods. The DCF hood didn't look like an exact replica of the 68 KR hood but more like a stylized version much like the entire S197 is to it's earlier incarnations. To stay on thread, one only has to look at the SA KR hood to see that they also went with softer transitions staying faithful to the S197. The SA KR didn't need nor would it have looked right with a more masculine style.
If others don't make something closer to the DCF hood as has been hinted in other threads then I will probably get the Cervini hood and have a fiberglass body man ease the transition between the raised sides and the lower level of the hood.
I was gung ho for the GT 500 conversion but somewhere between the 3rd and 4th month of ownership the stock front grille with it's fog lamps started to grow on me. Had I stayed with my original plan for the GT500 front facia, I would have used either the SA KR hood if available or the prototype GT500 hood as shown in photo #4 below. I changed my mind and now I'm opting for a KR style hood, CDC Classic front spoiler, Agent47 mirrors plus their lower front grille with brake ducting, and a GT500 OEM spoiler.

My Setup is very similar to what you just stated. I just installed the CDC Classic and a xenon duck tail, I am Using the Cervini KR hood and should have completed pics online Wednesday. It goes in Wednesday Morning for the wet sanding and buffing. Also have the Grillcraft Billet upper and lower grill with Pony Delete.
I should have some pics up early evening EST Wednesday night.

Im stoked.
I'm in the market for a KR hood. I'll be going to the Shelby fascia (with no Shelby/Cobra badging) in the very late Summer/early Fall, and the KR hood styling is the main reason why.
