TRUFIBER HOODS for Those with GT500 front Fascia!
07ShelbyGT500, ditch the badges, the Super Snake stripe looks better when it's not broken up anyway. Other than that you've done an alright job with your car. Make it your own, don't try and pass it off as something it's not. But at the end of the day, it is your car, and you pay for it, so do what makes you happy, just giving my opinion.

I understand that you guys are voicing your opinions and you are entitled to them, but I happen to like the badges. I can't really afford a GT500 right now being 18 and starting college this month, but I think I have done a pretty good job with my car. Maybe when the prices drop I'll be able to afford one but till then I'm happy with my clone.

That's pretty harsh. It appears that your youth, inexperience and ego have gotten the better of you. If you are truely entering college then perhaps you can look inside yourself to find the real reason that you decided to badge a v6 as a GT-500. I don't buy "I happen to like the badges" excuse. I happen to like them as well but I'd never put them on my GT.

I'm not going to get sucked into the eternal badging debate (that one is never going to end)
I would suggest that you get some matte or flat black paint, and black out the hood latch support as well as the tabs around the edges of the grilles that retain them. The yellow just blazes through the grilles.

Thanks I've been meaning to do that but I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet, and thanks for not complaining about the way I badged my car I appreciate it.
wow, good job "07ShelbyGT500" looks great.
don't worry about the others who ***** about badging, they just don't get the idea that some of us want to enhance the look of our Mustangs by adding very well designed body parts, badges etc. So if you can build a great looking design yourself even if it has no "Shelby" VIN or no well "Heavy" blown big block for half the price with "original Shelby parts", why not? At the end of the day its in the eyes of the beholder, 40 years from now the true Shelby produced cars will probably make mega bucks at Auctions and our clones won't, who cares?
Another example, if you buy a Roush body kit the rear bumper has Roush etched into it, what then sand it out?

I have no argument with the body panels, I've considered this modification myself with a few tangents from the actual GT-500. It's the badging I have problems with. If someone says that they tell everyone that asks "it's a clone", what about the several hundred Mustang affectionados that pass this car on the street? Do you put a windshield banner on the car stating "This Is A Clone" since they don't have a chance to ask? I don't think so. What happens when a ricer with a fart can muffler spanks you at the stop light and brags to all his buddies that he spanked a GT-500? Are you going to chase him down to tell him it was only a V6 clone?
For more years than I can count I've gone to one of the biggest car shows in the South, it's called the Turkey Run at Daytona Motor Speedway. They pack in about 5000 cars each show. I have seen hundreds of clones over the years and only those that have done their homework and built the motors and added the beefed up brakes along with the other sheet metal modifications were worthy. So if those of you who just want the aggressive look of the GT-500 front end, I say go for it, but if you want to badge it as a GT-500, you'll need a FI 5.4 (or at the minimum a FI 4.6), a 6 speed, the complete interior, and the upgraded brakes before it is worthy of a tribute clone.
These are only my opinions and as I stated at the beginning I'm not opposed to the body panel modifications in fact I do like them and have seriously considered doing them myself. I am not however going to go out and deceive people by passing off to the casual observer that my GT is anything other than a GT. I can also see that there are those of you who will defend to the death your right to deceive people so I will let it go. Have fun with your badges.

There are no problems that reinstituting the draft won't cure.

I can't do anything about the people driving by, but as for the ricers I don't pay any mind to them cause I shouldn't be racing them or anyone for that matter unless it's on the strip. As for the interior of the car I already have the airbag assembly and I'm working on getting the dash panels and the gague cluster. When I get the chance I also want to replace the engine with a 460 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsKvrfyULhU
Hell even Shelby is whoring out most all his wares and encourages us to make our cars look more like Shelby's, just don't sell to some sucker as something it's not.
Take pride in your ride and drop an X-Charger in it!
kudos's on not street racing I lost a good friend to it a little over a year ago to street racing and his wife and daughter lost a great husband/father.
Frankly, the badge discussion is getting so old that when you see a suspicious thread, you can almost feel the flaming post coming on and usually will be able to tell who its coming from as well. Go on about your business and enjoy your car. It looks bada$$ and I love the color.

I will point out to the original poster that almost all of the responders who support the fake GT-500 badging have already done the same. These discussions usually degenerate into peer pressure and that is seldom good. From what I've seen on this and other forums, there are quite a few Mustang owners who have done this conversion and the majority do not badge them as GT-500s. There is however a very vocal minority who have done the badging. Follow the thread long enough and it will degenerate into name calling and anyone with an opposing view is then labeled a flamer.
Since my opinion is in the minority on this thread I defer to those vocal supporters of the GT-500 badging and withdraw from the discussion before the testosterone levels get out of control.
Still like the conversion and all of them look good, just don't like the badging.
Peace.
