Anyone put on tire spacers?

I'm thinking of doing this as a mod. I was thinking of getting taller, wider tires. A friend told be about spacers. I bought the service contract with my dealership and don't want to violate that.

Hey, if they're going to pay for my tires for 5 years, I let them pay for the tires but I want that beefed up looking back end.

The wheels I got needed a 1/4, and the place sent them out for free. I haven't put em on yet... tires get here today. Here is a post with 1"ers.
