OK.... I have searched but I'm a mathematical idiot…

I just ordered 17x9's for my 05 and I want to go with 285’s on the rear and 255’s on the front.

I want to stay with the 40 sidewall height though…

Is this possible and if so how do I find out what I will need to do to keep the speedo correct?

Thanks for any help!

Try this - http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

I think if you enter invalid combo's, it flags it for you. Also tells you how far off the speedo will be, if I recall correctly.

You'll want to shoot for an overall diameter that stays the closest to your stock setup to minimize the effect on the speedo, which is roughly 27" (not including any tenths).

Ok.. just tried it I says I should go with a 275 45 17...
It says the 40's could result in brake failure?
Is that right?

So do you think 25.66 is to small?

You'll be fine, I don't know what the brake thing was all about

It's what Rikman has on his car:
