Tinting Question

I live in NJ and the laws state that I cannot tint the front windows or any part of the windshield. But the back windows and the rear windows can be tinted as dark as I wanted. Wouldn't it look bad if they were tinted but the fronts were not. Just curious.
Any NJ people on here have tinted windows???

Same rule here in Cali and you should see how many people follow that. Let me give you a hint ZERO! I didn't follow the rule either and I haven't had any problems in the 10 months I've had the car. Just tint your windows. Worst case scenario you get a fix it ticket. If you want to be extra careful lower your windows when you see a cop.

Sometimes you just gotta say F the law.

That's what I did with my Maxima. Everything was fine and dandy until it came time to inspect the car. It couldn't pass inspection with the tint. I had to get it all removed. It was a PITA to do and there is still residue on my windows to this day! We gotta get inspections every 2 years here in RI, don't know what it is in NJ. Just something to consider.

P.S. I hated my car after I got the tint removed. That's when I seriously started looking into buying the Mustang! Before that it was just a dream.

I think getting the rear windows tinted without the fronts would look funny. Do you have any relatives or do your parents live out of the state where you could get it registered out of state and then tint all of the windows?

Oh,
I forgot to tell you that there is a loop hole in the law that if you can get a doctor to say that you are sensitive to UV rays because of your eyes you can get a legal waiver to the law. I got the Lasik corrective eye surgery and it is cause enough to get the legal waiver.

I didnt follow the rules either, full limo all around and 35% on the windshield. I personally think it looks a little goofy to have tint on the back and not the front, so what you can do is go light on the back (45-35%) and nothing on the front and it wont look bad, or if you want to go dark (Limo) on the back then do 35% on the front, I still think that looks a bit off but its not *** noticeable, of course if you want to have more of a chance to get away with it do 45% on the front 2 and then whatever on the back but I wouldnt do more than 20 on the back at that point and it would probably work best with 35% on the back with that 45 on the front. It all depends on how strict the cops are out there with this law

cost varies greatly from area to area so call around to several shops and get price quotes, best thing is to get a recommendation from someone who has already had it done in your area, if you dont know anyone go to the local dealerships and ask who they use. but make sure you are getting quality tint, there is cheap crap that wont last and there is what most people call premium which you will be paying more for, this tint is both metalized and dyed, STAY AWAY FROM JUST DYED OR JUST METALIZED. There is also a new tint being used call extruded, some call it ceramic. Ask about warranties as well, they should come with lifetime warranties. Also remember these cars need the felt placed into the doors, so make sure they know how to that as well and put it in for you.

IF ANYONE HAS ANY DIRECT QUESTIONS OR NEEDS HELP WITH FIGURING OUT IF A TINT SHOP OR PRICES ARE GOOD OR NOT FIND OUT THEIR COSTS AND THE TINT BRAND AND LINE THEY USE AND PM ME AND I WILL HELP YOU OUT!
