Question Time for Tires - Best Place to Purchase ?

Where is the best place to buy tires locally in Miami, Florida or online?
Anyone ever purchased from Discount Tires 2go?

Narrowed it down to Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position
Qty 4 255/45R18

Most of my tires come from TireRack or Discount Tire, either a local DT store, or Discount Tire Direct (their online presence). Never heard of Discount Tires 2go, I'm guessing they are trying to capitalize on the well known "Discount Tire" name, but they appear to have no affiliation.

It seems like http://www.discountedwheelwarehouse.com/ has good deals.

Tire Rack's good, check out their Installation options. They ship to a locally approved installer who puts them on for an agreed price.

As Ministang mentions, beware of the # of Discount Tire imitators. There's a lot of them. They're not always bad, but you always have a nagging voice in the back of your head who's wondering why the imitators ride on the coattailes of someone else's IP. And whether that lazy business mentality might translate into the work they do on your car. When it's eight feet in the air suspended by support pads under the control arms.

I've always had great experiences with Tire Rack. The best thing is to have them shipped to an installer. Not to mention, Tire Rack has all those reviews on each tire. You can't go wrong.

The Fast Lane side of my Ford dealer sells tires. I had them get me a price on some for my Trailblazer and the price I got was within $5 of Tire Rack.

A few years back, NTB was matching Tire Racks price if you asked for it.

I was able to shop online and then find the same deal locally without the shipping hassle and the wait.

I used DiscountTire.com's "Found it Lower? Let us Know!" link for the tires I wanted, and directed them to Tire Rack's listing for the tires I wanted. They called me the next day, and said "They're $121 on Tire Rack. Shipping comes up about $10 per tire right? How's $131 a piece?" That got me the tires for $10 less for the set than ordering them and waiting on them to come in. Set an appointment for my next day off, and was in and out in 45 minutes with a full lobby.

www.discounttiredirect.com then take them to discounttire for mounting. That place has always taken care of me even when I flat spoted a newer tire. They have also givin me tire credits when I didn't expect it at all.
My teenage Son took took our gt in with bald back tires and they gave him a discount because they didn't make it the 40k miles they were supose to. I thought that was kinda crazy. They have my bizz but I will always make them match my best price

The RE960 s were the best tire I ever put on my wife's '98 Grand Marquis. It had 17" wheels and there was a direct size match for her factory tires. Unfortunately her '09 Grand Marquis has 18" wheels and there is no direct size match. I'd love to put these on my '07 GT but I have 17" wheels and there is no match to the 235/55R17s. I'm not crazy about going up to 18" rims as I like a lot of sidewall give for ride comfort. I've ridden in an '08 GT with factory 18's and there is a noticeable difference.

Up here at the space center all of the roads are flat with no crown. This is done so that large vertical payloads can be transported around the center. This causes ponding on the roads during our seasonal afternoon frog stranglers most of the hurricane season. The RE960s cure a lot of hydroplaning problems.

I didn't see anyone mention Firestone. Around here Firestone is the only retailer that stocks Bridgestone tires. When I got mine for the Grand Marquis, they came in a lot cheaper than Tire Rack so you may want to shop around locally first. This was also cheaper than special ordered from Tire Kingdom. We don't have a Discount Tire in this county.

my $0.02

I sold the '98 Grand Marquis over a year ago and the paperwork went with it as the tires were still on the car. I'm sure a local phone call can answer your question. My GT is only coming up on 20k miles so I'm not actively looking for tires for it yet. I've been running BFG All Terrain T/A KOs on my 4x4s and I get them at a local discount club with free repair and rotation but that doesn't help anyone but me on a Mustang Forum.

As I mentioned earlier, the new Grand Marquis has 18" wheels. If I want the Pole Positions then it will require the smart junction box to be re-calibrated for a different tire. I don't want to buy a tuner for this and I haven't investigated what a dealer will charge. It would be much easier if there was a direct size swap but there isn't. Now my '96 4x4 only required a jumper cable between two pins on a plug located by the glove box and you could perform the calibration using the trip reset buttons on the instrument panel. My '88 Bronco on the other-hand required a gear change in the transfer case.
