Installed GT500 Wheels & Tires

Hey guys,

Bought a set of take-off GT500 wheels and tires and installed them today. I decided to go with all fronts, so the tire size is 255/45/18 all the way around. This way I can rotate the tires. Next up is the GT500 brake kit.

Nice choice. Love the look on the red car. Brembo brake kits are easy to come by and definitely a pertinent upgrade if you got wheels to clear them. You have to lower the car as well. Even if you just go with a .750" drop, you will see a dramatic increase in performance. A slightly stiffer spring with the brakes will make the car night and day.

I got them for $965 on Ebay. My car has 30k miles on it and the tires needed to be replaced. It was easier and cheaper to replace the wheels and tires at the same time. The Goodyear F1 Supercar tires are in new condition. Just a simple swap and then had to reprogram the computer for the different tire size and reflash the TPM sensors. I already have the GT500 Brembo brake kit from FRPP waiting to be installed.

Re-program for wheels?

Dan, those wheels look great, and so does the car. Are you sure you're going to have to re-program for the wheel size? I think the overall diameter of those tires on those wheels is the same as the stock Pirellis. So, the speedo should still be OK.

Yes, I had to update the tune for the different tire size. The stock BFGs were 759 revs per mile while the 255/45/18 Goodyears are 773 revs per mile. Thanks for the complements guys.

According to the tire size calcualtors out there, 255/45/18's are 746 rev's per mile while stock 18" (235/50/18) are 740 rev's per mile (not sure about 17"). For that change, a speedo recal isn't really necessary since you'd be ~0.5 mph off at 60 mph. No biggie
They look great anyway.. I always liked the GT500 rims.

Hmmm, I think the calculator must be off. The BFG and Goodyear list 759 and 773 as the revs per mile.
