Talked to my bodyshop...
In another thread Scott(Trufiber sponsered) said it wasn't nessesary to do that pre-mounting. Which also makes sense, a bare hood facing all the elements with no protection could actually do much worse. I may just go like everyone else and just have it prepped and mounted. Scott hasnt had any problems with his other trufiber hood and didn't mention anything with this GTS2 hood either.
What I want to do is talk downt he price abit. $600 is abit outragous. I went to another shop and they qouted me $250. I just dont trust them enough to work on my hood.
Far as paint match. Long as the painted uses the actual factory paint code I shouldn't really worry about a bad match correct? Far as the hood looking good next the side fenders.

I am in the Northeast so i wont be doing this at all because i am installing it now, and it will be in storage for its cure time.
My hood will be costing me around 650.00 by the way
To do these fiberglass hoods right, you need about 6 hrs of prep!
It depends on how long they let it cure after it was removed from the molds, 2nd is what will it be exposed to whlie it is curing...if you are in a hot climate with hot direct sun, you may want to do it for an insurance policy....the gel cioat will protect it!

no trial run here, and it's costing me 400..should be ready by the end of next week. I'll keep you updated
I asked the guy about sanding the bead all the way to a slight peak and he said not a good idea cuz it would cause splitting andcracking of the fiberglass
He said it would be less noticible after prep and paint..We'll see

I'm getting one last qoute before I take the plunge. So far no ones mentioned taking off the bead being a bad thing. Makes sense I guess. Either way I'm prolly just going to have it prepped and put on. I dont think Ima do the two week thing.

If you're that embarassed about driving with a white hood, I'd cover it with a red tarp or shrink wrap if you can find it. or go with the masking they use for test mules and just say its a new concept! The black would still heat up in the sun.
prolly right
He said he would try and sand it down to minimize the appreance some. He just thinks the beads there to add support/fight warping of the hood. Since the hood is so big and if its just a flat surface he thinks it could possible warp if its entirly removed. I dunno. That and hes not sure if that bead is all gelcoat and if he sands it all down what he'll find under it.
My last instructions for him were remove it if you feel comfterble. And if you dont want to take it all off try and sand some of it so its not so *bam*. I trust his judgement. We'll see. I'll try and stop by monday.
Whats the update on your hood?

We both look into the front vents and you could see the underside of the bead and it didn't look solid from that view. Look like the inside took the shape of the raised top. Of course Im not sure if that follows through the entire hood, which I dont think so. I'll give him a call tomorrow again.
Are you positive that under the bead is solid fiberglass? Did your shop have to re-glass any portion of the hood?
I went to the shop, gave him a few pictures of your hood(hope you dont mind) and showed him he was still worried about sanding down and wondering how thing it would be. He said he's afriad of splitting the hood and discovering that the center was a weak spot.
