To Stripe, or not to Stripe?
It would be cool to see a black car done up with the "black ScotchLite" reflective vinyl. But I guess you can't buy OTT stripes in that stuff as there is too much glare with that much of a stripe in ScotchLite.
To keep that stealthy black look it would be cool to see your stripes painted in Alloy Metallic.

Hey! Spell my name right!
... j/k
If I had a Black GT, and was going the vinyl route, I would choose a dark colored stripe like dk. charcoal. If paint, ghost stripes all the way.
If you haven't already, take a look at the stripe spreadsheet to see the different stripe color combinations on black.

Stripe it- it looks great on these cars, period. And def "wrap" the car- do it from the lowest point on the front all the way to the lowest point on the rear.
On a black car, I'm partial to silver. Set it off with chrome or polished wheels, and WOW look out!! I'm trying to find a pic that I saw of a black car with silver (reflective) C-stripes on the side- it looked great! I would recommend doing vinyl first- make sure you like the style, you like the color, etc. then if you have the cash, get it painted later. Don't be afraid of vinyl, it will work very well if you put it on right.

With the black it would really be different to go with a ghost effect. Depends if you are going for the shock and awe effect (solid colors, like white, gold, silver, titanium) or sneak up on someone with the ghost effect.
If your budget can afford it, paint is the way to go (good vynil jobs do look great too but color selection is more limited), but ask a lot of questions of the shop before your buy. Cheap is cheap and the result will show it.
Check this thread, this is my white one getting painted the right way. The striped panels were top coated in clear and then block sanded and polished to get rid of the edge of the stripe. The stripe widths (tapered slightly) and gap are true to the original 65 Shelby specification.

.
Thanks for the compliment (graypony too) ...
I guess that is the Shelby tribute part and I do think it looks better that way (seems like most are striped, though in vynil that must be tricky to pull off). To stripe the hood scoop or not I suppose depends on how much one wants to draw attention to the scoop (by not striping it).

This is why I think you should get your car striped~
