Steeda Cowl hood

Anyone that already has the Steeda Cowl hood, did you get the racing hood or the street version? I was thinking of getting the street version because I don't plan on bringing my stang to the track or anything but when I talked to Steeda they said that that hood is about 10 + pounds heavier than the stock aluminum hood.

Would like to know which one you got and why? I am trying to make a decision between these two.

Also, does anyone have pics of the underneath of either hood?

I have the race one...reason being its the same or a little lighter than stock and its a full cowl. I have not seen the non race one...mine when your in the car looking at the top of the cowl its completely open...I think the other just has a small openeing. I would get the race one...it really pulls in some air once you are moveing...cooler under hood temps cant hurt even if your not at the track. I dont have any under hood pics but ill try to get some if no one else has them.

Appreciate the input. I was thinking the same thing. After I had talked to Steeda and they told me how small the opening was it kind of discouraged me.

Yeah just get the full cowl one. I think the opening on the other is like fist size. Now that I have a cowl hood and see how it works....im glad I got the full one. When your moving you can see water roll off how it gets drawn to under the hood.

I have the regular hood, I couldn't see spending the other $150 or so to save a few lbs. THe underside of my hood is fully finished and does move hot air from under the hood well. My hood wobbles a little at speed but other than that is good to go.

I really think it's 6 to one half dozen to another... Personally my hood moves around enough at speed, if it was lighter I would certainly put hood pins on.

Does it make it a b_tch to keep the engine clean? Have you installed the hood pins yet? I saw that you was considering it. Post pics if you do. Are you going with the pins with no wire attachments?
