Someone with a factory GT hood scoop - HELP

Hi,

I recently installed a factory "style" hood scoop on my 07 GT/CS using only textbook prepping and 3M tape. I'm really **** about the placement and am afraid it might be about 3/4 of an inch too far back.

Before I spend a few hours re-doing it, would someone with a factory GT hood scoop (05-09) be willing to do me a huge favor and measure from the back of their scoop to the back of edge of the hood and from the front of the scoop to the front edge of the hood? I'd like both measurements in case the aftermarket scoop I have is a slightly different size.

I would appreciate it immensely if someone could do me this huge favor. I haven't yet decided if I need to re-do it.

I've attached a few pics, if you guys can let me know if you think it needs to be moved up about an inch I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
HMT

Mine measures 8 3/8" to the rear of the hood, and around 25 1/2" to the front. The front measurement was from the base of the grille in the front of the scoop, so inset just a bit, and estimated to the front of the hood, which curves off pretty rapidly. Hope this helps, yours "looks" about right.

Thanks Bear,

As I suspected I'm about an 7/8 of an inch too far back. I kinda want to fix it but does anyone think I'll damage the paint removing it?

Why don't you just leave it? I highly dobt anyone will notice it. Do you have gaps between the hood and the scoop?

Yeah I think I'll leave it for now and see if it still bothers me in a month.

IF you choose to remove it, a hair dryer and fishing line will let the tape go, and you can use goo gone to remove the remainder of the tape.

But it looks *fine* where it is, and I think you should enjoy your slight difference! That's what makes it a mod, and not a stock thing.

It looks good. Is that the 3d carbon scoop? Where did you get it? pre-painted? You can get it off with a hair dryer and fising line like said above. I'd leave it though......you can't tell by eye.

I know some of you may think I'm mental, but I spent about 3 hours re-doing the scoop last night (not counting time to re-apply the sealant which I haven't done yet. It's now 8 1/2 inches to the rear of the hood rather than 7 5/8 inches. Very minor adjustment but I was finally able to sleep well last night.

Here's the before and after so you guys can slap the your palm to your foreheads. haha

Ohh and thanks a bunch to everyone for their input, help and patience dealing with a nervous, uptight newbie.
