signal mirror install

Picked up a set of these after seeing them at SEMA, will do an install thread when I do them. But in the mean time.... was wondering ( without doing much reaserch, just asking here ) can I hook the heaters up the the rear window defrost switch so both come on at the same time. Want to do this to eliminate an extra switch inside the car.

Hey Doug,

As long as the switch isn't a self-resetting breaker. If you overload the switch and it uses current to detect a possible fire, then it may trigger when the full load of all the accessories is put on it. I would suggest contacting either a Ford Tech or the Mirror Manufacturer.

called the factory today, said not to wire them with the rwd it will overload the system, guess i'll have to put in another switch.
Thinking above the headlight switch if there is room on the back side.

CDC has had these for a year or more. Not the heated version, just the plain ones.

Not sure if they are self dimming, not too worried I have them on the truck and they don't bother me. Also the stang's windows are tinted so that will help if they are too bright.

Main reason to get them was the heated aspect of them, hate scraping ice and frost off in the mornings, total PITA.

Another cool thing is they are tinted blue to match the car

You can definitely hook them up to the rear defrost. Just not directly. You have to create a wiring harness that either taps off the battery or another line and then it gets set off by a relay wired to the rear defrost.
