Side Stripes on GT/CS
I've ordered a GT/CS and it seems the side stripes are matte black, if so can you wax them? I know in general you can't wax matte black. Also is there anyone that makes the side stripes in custom colors, I imgine the fade makes that more difficult.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

Make sure the wax contains no petroleum distillates.
The only makers of aftermarket GT/CS side stripes are these guys...

I had a local shop, affiliated with autotrimdesign, do it for me. They ordered in the new stripe, removed the black stripe, and installed to new one for about $70 in labor. Cheap insurance, because I know I would have messed it up. They also did the window tint.
The salesman at Ford noticed that the original stripe didn’t seem to be well adhered to the car (you could see a lot of tiny air bubbles thru the transparent “faded” area). When the folks at autotrimdesign removed the black stripe, they said the car was dirty underneath it. Go figure!

I ask becasue I getting a White CS and might put a Mach1 style graphic on the hood, and want to know if I should go matte or glossy black.
Like this but with "281" not the "Powered by Ford" type

Just something to make it unique.

I would go with Matte Black myself to match the side stripes.

Ford replaced it under warranty, while the tech in the body shop was peeling it off, he commented" If they would clean the panels before appyling these, they would stay stuck"
Go figure, putting stripes on over dirt?

As far as waxing the side stripe I've heard that its OK but you should be very careful to apply and remove parrallel to the stripe not perpindicular as this will reduce the change of wax getting under the stripe at the edges.

Wax cannot get under the stripe if the stripe was applied properly. If wax is getting under there well then so did water, dirt etc so it is too late and damage would already have been done.
You can wax your stripes. It actually will help prevent the corners from lifting, however, matte black stripes, when waxed, will look a little glossy.
