Should I have the body shop redo this or am I too picky?

Should I have the body shop redo this or am I too picky?

I bought the Shelby Spoiler a couple of weeks ago. Thanks KC

One of the corners must have been rubbing against the shipping carton. This was obvious because some of the factory primer was rubbed off at the very corner. This created a imperfection and needed to be lightly sanded. While at the body shop dropping it off for paint I POINTED OUT THE IMPERFECTION. He agreed with the sannding assumption and told me not to worry that they would do a good job. So I agreed to let them paint it.

Well I go pick it up. I get it home and the color is almost a perfect match. I have the Tungsten color and I know that the Metallics are hard to get just right. So I look closer and realize that some of the metallic flakes are very large. There are about 30 metallic flakes that are much larger than the others. But you do have to look ver close to see them.

So when I get to the corner where the imperfection was and see they didn't do anything in that spot! They painted right over that. So at the passenger side edge just doesn't look right to me. Its not smooth. If they simply would have sanded down the paint that was rubbed from the box everything would have been fine.

Am I being to picky about this? I am trying not to be so nutty about this car. But it just seems nobody can do things with a little pride anymore.

The owner of the place seemed really nice. I just tired of this same old song and dance if I take it back in there. Lots of these small business people get really upset if you ask for perfection.

Just think It could come back alot worse. I took these sorry pictures with my camera phone to give an Idea of the bad corner. Sorry about the image quality but you should get the idea.

Any advice would be welcome.

Have them redo it, hopefully the still have some of the paint leftover. You paid them to do a job, and they agreed to do it.

I would ask them to redo it. If it's a reputable shop, they shouldn't give you any arguement. I brought my car back for a small problem, the folks at my body shop re did the job. That's good for business.

+1... I'm not sure how much you paid, but I am sure that you paid to have if perfect. I would definitely have them do it over again, expecially since you pointed out the pre-painted imperfection. "That" should have been remedy during prep any way which makes be wonder if they did any prep at all. Even claimed prepped items should still be lightly sanded, tac-ragged, and primed before painting.

You should have them repaint it especially since you pointed it out before.

Stick to your guns. There was nothing wrong with the money you gave them to perform an agreed service, so there is no reason to accept anything less. Ease into it, could have been a honest oversight.

I would go back. Don't accept it if they told you they'd take care of it. Even if you think you "can live with it" you won't be able to. Every time you look at your car it will be there staring at you and you'll never feel right about it until it is fixed properly.

I would definitely take it back. Politely point out their oversight and see what they say. Be firm if they try to weasle out of it. Good luck.

Take it back, for sure. Be nice, but firm........ you paid for the service, right?

Besides, if you don't have them fix it, it will bug you for as long as you own the car.

Well, on my way to work I dropped it off and showed them the problem. They agreed that it should have been caught when prepping. They claim they can fix it without re-spraying the whole piece. But I don't know how they can do that being that the imperfection is UNDERNEATH the new paint?

I will let you guys know how it works out. I was really glad they didn't get all ****y about this.

Thanks everbody.
