That's how I really felt...
I have a GT500 vert with scissor doors. I got tired of scraping the speakers and door panels with my foot every time I had to squeeze out of the car. It's so much easier to get in and out of the car now. I don't hang with the "ricer" crowd so I didn't realize it was such a faux pas. If it's any consolation to you, I usually drive the car with the doors closed. And when the car is parked the doors are closed. So except for a few seconds a day, you'll never have to be subjected to my lack of taste.

The second problem, and I see this very often is that most of these "kits" never quite align the door properly when shut. Therefore you have a door that sags and possibly leaks.

The other issue is more of a personal thing witch is safety. The factroy doors are reinforced with crash bars on the side of the door. This way on a side impact you dont get killed when the local drunk in his tahoe decides its ok to drink 25 beers and 2 bottles of jack and get in his truck and go speeding. The hinges are designed to align the support beams to certain parts of the body to spread the loads out instead of breaking in a crash and keeping the ocupants safe, since the are no longer there then you have unknown factors here.

Not to mention the stock door in our cars is quite heavy, so the mechanism has to be fairly beafy and require quite a bit of surgery to the body to get it on even for a 1/2 assed job.

In any case, your paying allot of money to turn a stang into a rice mobile, look like a douche while doing it, and possibly endager your own life and possibly your unknowing passenger/friend/family member.

Sell the stang, get a honda and put 300+lb worth of body kit that looks like an alien + 150lb worth of bondo and lambo door kit, keep a dirty engine bay with a high milage stock 4 banger, get some turbo simulators and go to town. A mustang is a vehicle that is not meant to have 22inch rims + a park bench spoiler and lambo doors. There are allot of other economy cars that seem to pull it off cheaper. Or get a toyota, maybe the acelerator jamed open will give you a good thrill.

OUCH!

but I feel about the same way. did anyone see the car with the doors that roll under the rockers? another odd mod, but engineering-wise was pretty impressive. check it out here:

Now that's innovative! To bad Paris Hilton's car didn't have this mod!

I'm surprised no has come out with a suicide door hinge? It might be a bit difficult climbing into the back though. On another note; can you imagine that door having a failure and come slamming down on your head while exiting the vechicle. That would ruin my day.

Eliminates the need for four doors in many cases!

Way Cool!
