Scissor swing doors ie gull wing type
Scissor swing doors ie gull wing type
Has anyone got any info on these for a 2005+ version Mustang?
Like if they work good, not just ok but if they work correctly?
Does the door stay up or will the hinge loosen and eventually have to be adjusted forever.
Is the shut tight?
Any info on them or a link to some info would be great.

Actual Gull wing doors hinge at the top (i,e like a DeLorean or some of the classic Mercedes models). How is that going to work on a car that has no frame around the window like the Mustang?
Do you actually mean vertical or "lambo" doors?

There's a guy that lives somewhere around the area I work and go to school at who has the scissor doors. I have seen them up a few times at gas stations and stuff, they appear to be staying up by themselves pretty good. Haven't gotten close to him with the door open to really get a good idea though.
Then they got the window frame/top cut, the surrounding areas strengthened and redone to do it... quite expensive a mod. But if money wasn't important, anyone can do anything to any car... as evidenced by the varied ways that manufacturers make them in the first place, and how people still aren't satisfied, and mod them more.
Oh, and by the way: Pics or it didn't happen.

Small issue with "lambo doors" You still have to open the door normaly at least part of the way to lift them up, negating the benefit of such a door, witch was meant as a solution to a problems lamborghini had witch was having a very wide car park in a italian parking space that is meant for a car that could fit in your pocket.
The second problem, and I see this very often is that most of these "kits" never quite align the door properly when shut. Therefore you have a door that sags and possibly leaks.
The other issue is more of a personal thing witch is safety. The factroy doors are reinforced with crash bars on the side of the door. This way on a side impact you dont get killed when the local drunk in his tahoe decides its ok to drink 25 beers and 2 bottles of jack and get in his truck and go speeding. The hinges are designed to align the support beams to certain parts of the body to spread the loads out instead of breaking in a crash and keeping the ocupants safe, since the are no longer there then you have unknown factors here.
Not to mention the stock door in our cars is quite heavy, so the mechanism has to be fairly beafy and require quite a bit of surgery to the body to get it on even for a 1/2 assed job.
In any case, your paying allot of money to turn a stang into a rice mobile, look like a douche while doing it, and possibly endager your own life and possibly your unknowing passenger/friend/family member.
Sell the stang, get a honda and put 300+lb worth of body kit that looks like an alien + 150lb worth of bondo and lambo door kit, keep a dirty engine bay with a high milage stock 4 banger, get some turbo simulators and go to town. A mustang is a vehicle that is not meant to have 22inch rims + a park bench spoiler and lambo doors. There are allot of other economy cars that seem to pull it off cheaper. Or get a toyota, maybe the acelerator jamed open will give you a good thrill.

Personally i love the Koenigsegg doors more than i like the lambo doors, and dont expect to ever see these doors in the aftermarket. You would need to do major surgery to the door and the fenders to even think about doing this to a stang or any other car.

There is a guy in my neck of the woods who has them on his V6 Mustang. They definitely are different. Personally, I wouldn't do it, but if that's the look you want, go for it..
Bruno has made some **** good points..

FYI, koinesegg spent allot of money, I mean allot to develope that type of door. The mathematics involved are astounding. Copying that is not something a small company churning out parts is capable of doing, let along doing it cheep. For example the so kalled kit for lambo doors is somewhere around 2k, witch is a complete rip off, the manufacturing of the hinges for a koinesegg cost more than that per hinge. All cnc cut and precision fit, not easily replicated.
in any case I have said my peace. At the end of the day its your car and money. Just don't expect a thumbs up from me.

Ok that's all I wanted to know. Hell I have a Ceverni kit on the car anyway and I get grats all around and then the usual hate from Chevy lovers. I was just thinking out of the box. I had not ever seen the doors up close just pictures. Gull wing would be more my style but as mentioned how would you attach those.

one of the guys in my club (NJstangers) has em and i gota say, im def not a fan. when they are up, the doors themselves shake alot. gotta remember, thees doors are HEAVY! any sort of aftermarket vertical hinge prob is going to have a hard time holding up that weight. that being said, when the doors are up and you see them shaking, it just looks cheap. plus i hear if you get it done "professionally", it can run upwards of 2grand. i can think of soooo many other things to do with 2g's rather than having my doors lift up instead of just out.....maybe get a set of brenspeeds new detroit rocker cams!

added hp and tq and you get that classic lopey muscle sound. and i seriously doubt youll pay more than 2grand for them installed. just my .02
