I've got white rocker stripes on my torch red GT. I kind of liked them at first, but now I've changed the fender GT badge to the 2006 running pony and have running pony spinners on the bullets. I'm keeping the Shelby stripes bumper to bumper, but I'm thinking that the car might look better if I lose the rocker stripes.

I can't make up my mind. Anybody want to weigh in with an opinion? Just to save someone the trouble, I'll say it myself: This thread is worthless without pictures. Sorry, all I have is photos on Kodak paper. Come on cut me some slack, you all know what these rocker stripes look like.

I was debating the opposite, whether to put some ON mine. I think I've decided to stay with the clean look on the side. I think it's something that would go 50/50 if you did a poll.

I like the rocker stripes. They've been on Mustangs since '65, and they just say "classic" to me. My original intention with my Sonic Blue GT was to do white GT300 rocker stripes and the white LeMans stripes as well. Many on this fourm have done this, and it looks great. The more stripes I saw, however, the more I liked it simple. I ended up with just the rocker stripes, no LeMans stripes, and I love it. As rebel suggested, it will just be a matter of opinion as to whether you want both, but vinyl rocker stripes are inexpensive, and can be removed if you decide you don't like them. I think that for every car, there is that one last modification that takes it over the top and says "too much". You just gotta listen when your own tastes tell you to stop.

backafter20,
Do you have any bigger pics of your ride? Also, where did you get your GT300 stripes?

The stripes came from Graphic Express I will try to post an image, but I've got a real squirrely wireless internet connection. It's great for browsing, but most times that I attempt to upload a picture I end up getting multiple posts and corrupted pics. It will be easier to link you to one of my few successful attempts at posting pics. Go here

I'll be brave and try a larger pic. This is probably a mistake though...

I had pony caps on my wheels, GT300 stripes and the GT badge. I decided to go with the pony on the side, keep the GT300 stripes and put Ford spinners on the Bullitts. I'm happy now!

Ok, I managed to put a few pics in the Gallery section of TMS. They turned out just fine. I also figured out how to create an album, which is linked in my signature. Cool.

Thanks! Those stripes look great.....I wasn't sure about them on the GT, but I really like it. I would say leave the racing stripes off.

I would center the stripe on the side panel. Looks too high?

I have running pony fender badges and wheel center caps. I have rocker stripes also. I think they look fine together. Here's a pic...

acadian,
how hard was it to replace the GT badge with the running horse one? If I get the stripes that say "GT300", this will be a must fix.

Why should the rocker stripe have to say GT300 or GT350 or GT500? Why not just use the Mustang letters like I did. Mine are similar to the 65/66 GT stripes.

Well, the emblems I got were reproduction, or NOS emblems from a '65/'66. So, they had the pegs on the back of them like the original. I had to drill two little holes in the fender to install them. I didn't want the stick-on kind... although that would have been easier. But the way I saw it, the fender had holes in it anyway, so what's another hole or two? I had planned to have all holes filled and have no emblem there when I repainted the car years down the line.

Overall though, it was very easy.

I had originally thought about doing that... but I don't like two 3-d emblems there. The GT and the MUSTANG just look a little busy IMO. What you have there is nice though, don't get me wrong. It's definitely unique. Good idea.
