I know someone out there has a service manual or has done this.

I think I'm going to paint my rocker panels and I figured it might be easier to just remove them than mask everything off...anyone know for sure?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I didn't see a section for 05+ tech questions.

Hi Shea,
To remove & replace your rocker panels, please follow these nine easy fun-filled steps:
1.) Within the front fender opening down low, lift the two plungers out with a flat-bladed screw driver, then pull them out all the way by the base of the fastener.
2.) From under the car, pry straight down on the eight plungers. These have to be virtually torn out with pliers after you start them out with the screw driver. One is kinda hidden in a recess.
3.) Pull the rocker panel straight out to the side to remove them, starting at the front.
4.) Go to the Ford Parts Counter and buy all new connectors (except the two from step #1.)
5.) Paint Rocker Panel
6.) Load the new connectors on your now painted rocker panel. The old ones slide out easily, and so too do the new ones go in easily.
7.) Slam it on in a sideways fashion from the front to the back.
8.) Install the eight plungers up from the bottom. If a fragment of an old plunger is plugging your hole, that will stop you from finishing the installation. Keep a mirror and a flashlight handy to clean out the hole, if required.
9.) Install the two plungers from the front fender well.
Brian.
