I'm sick of waiting and have found a few GT's that will meet my needs but they all have the darn spoiler. I just can't live with that...

What are the best options for deleting an existing spoiler?
A replacement trunk lid or a body shop filling the holes?

I'd personally take the car with the spoiler, then put out feelers for people that want(ed) a spoiler but didn't get one. You could start here, on the forums. Cast a wide net, maybe even use eBay. You could swap with someone (preferably with someone who has the same color lid as yours).

On the other hand, you could just order a replacement trunk lid from Ford and have it painted to match, along with whatever spoiler you decide to add. I know some body shops can do a good job with filling holes on sheet metal, but the labor may cost more than purchasing a virgin deck lid and having it painted with or without a new spoiler. Best of luck on whatever course you pursue.

Or, maybe your dealer could switch lids for you with another car on the lot. Heck, they'll just turn around and charge an extra $400 for putting the spoiler on the other car.

The quick and painless way would be to do a trunk swap like 05GT-O.C.D. just pointed out. Check if the dealer has any V6 coupes that they could swap. Keep in mind you might be charged more because they would swap the medallion on the other car. It would be hard to find a spoilerless GT on the lot, I would assume most are custom-ordered.

The bodyshop idea isn't bad either, but you run the risk of a different gloss, paint shade, etc. Even so, those problems are possible with a trunk swap as well.

I think I'm going to go with the Pony Package, but I need to lose the spoiler. Is a trunk swap a common thing for dealerships, or will it be a PITA trying to find one that will? Anyone else had this done?
