Im looking to remove vinyl rocker stripes. It seems from the posts I have seen that all I need to do is heat them up with a hair dryer and pull them off, then use goo gone on the adhesive left over. Is this correct or am I missing somthing?

Nope, it is as simple as that (unless your car was in an accident and they clearcoated over them...seen that happen before).
Just make sure that once the adhesive has been removed that you wash the car really good to get rid of any remaining adhesive remover that was left on the paint.
