rear blackout panel

okay so i am either going to buy the plastic lens covers to blackout my taillights or tint them. either way, not going for the dull look. i was wondering if anyone had put on the rear blackout panel that matches the taillight covers and has taken it off? i say this because i don't want it to mess up my paint if i want to take it off. i know it uses 3m tape! i was thinking about getting the magnetic panel as well but it looks dull. suggestions?

I don't have the glossy plastic panel, so I can't comment on that. If it uses the 3M tape, I don't think it will harm your paint (aside from any possible rubbing/vibrating that may happen). But hopefully someone else can verify that for you. I have a vinyl blackout from Rocky Mountain Graphics that I'm very satisfied with. They can do custom designs and non flat colors, but I'm not sure how glossy they really are...

I purchased the shiny plastic panel which uses the 3m tape. I used small squares of velcro to hold it instead of the 3m tape as dirt will get inside of it. This way, I remove the panel when it's time to wash the car. The velcro will come right off with little force.

Good luck..

I don't know where either of you live. But if you use velcro, be sure that it can hold up to the heat in your area. I tried using velcro on a few things inside my car, but it couldn't hold up to Texas heat and didn't work for very long.

I installed the CDC panel today with the double sided tape that came with the panel. I wouldn't think that that tape would be any different than any other tape or badge adhesive on the car from the factory.
